Can you reopen a closed credit card account?

Postby ZOMGVTEK » Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:57 am

I got a credit card from Chase in Oct 2006, and eventually closed it Apr 2008 in good standing with $0 balance. The terms were terrible, credit limit low, and it offered no cashback.

I later ended up getting a new Chase Freedom in Dec 2010, that I still use.

Is there any way to re-open the old Chase credit card that was closed, or somehow extend the date on the new card to Oct 2006 to increase the average age of my open credit cards?

No. I tried with my Chase Freedom. I closed it the same year you opened it. Once a card is closed it's closed.

You can reapply for that card but you can't have your old account number back.
