You would need to reapply for the HSBC Best Buy RewardZone card, but you MAY be able to get them to attribute past payment history. Presuming they have the ability in their computer and it is still on file accessible by customer service. They also need to be willing to do so. Good luck getting them to do that, but you would be suprised at how far some customer service agents will go to help you if you're friendly.

If they wont do it, then I suggest not taking the ding against your credit and just utilizing the Capital One card for purchases at Best Buy.

I was looking around forums all over the place, but it doesn't seem like too many people have the same situation I am in. I only recently started a credit history (AAoA of 1 year 3 months.)

I was approved for the Cap 1 Journey back in 12/2010 with a $500 CL which was bumped to $750. Back in January of this year I found my FICO score was at 770, not sure why it's that high for someone with such a limited credit history but that's what it's showing.

I want to get another credit card but I am not sure what direction I should be going or since I don't really fall under the "excellent" category because of my low credit limit and short history. So I'm assuming I wouldn't get approved for some of the cards that requires the "excellent" credit. I'm not worried about high interest as I PIF.

As far as the rewards go, I think gas and department stores would suit me best. I don't do much traveling.

Any guidance would be appreciated! Thank you for your time!

We are in the same boat. Look into the Citi Forward Card. I have it and love it.

Hey there! I'm glad someone can relate to me, I got the Chase Freedom on Tuesday and today I was approved for the AmEx Zync! So I'm going to stop applying for about 1.5-2 years now. I'm really happy I got my foot in the door with AmEx as I really want a revolver from them in the future.

I did look at the Citi cards, but I heard they were pretty strict on approvals for people with short AAoA, I really liked that they had the virtual credit card number, they are definitely something I will consider in the future though, along with a Discover More.. but I'm taking it one at a time :)

I really recommend getting an AMEX card as soon as possible because of the AAoA benefits. Charge cards are easier to get from them, but you really need to have 2+ credit cards with 6+ months history to get one, no matter what your FICO score is (aside from student ones).

I recently got an AMEX plat card after long hiatus and was pleasantly surprised that the card reported issuing date of my original AMEX card which I had gotten in college so I got a huge AAoA spike.
