little confused here...!

Postby jumbo » Sun Nov 27, 2011 10:42 pm

I got a pre-approved mail offer from CHASE freedom, with $200 cash back after first purchase, 5% cash back in categories and 1% cash back on other purchases. 0% intro apr till feburary 2013, and then 19.99% variable apr. The question in, should I apply for it.

My little info, I am a college student, 4th year in college, two semesters left to graduate. Work part time and earn about $26,000 per year. I have BOA CC of $1000, Capital One CC of $1750, Discover More card of $1500, CHASE Slate CC of $3000 and CITI Platinum Select of $1200.
Last month, I applied for CITI platinum select MC and was approved for $1200. Then the same week, I got mail offer from CHASE Slate, and applied for it as well and was approved for $3000 (no benefits, just 0% intro apr, needed it to pay my college tuition)...

So, what is my best option with CHASE freedom, I am not desperate for CC, but I like the offer. Should I go for it or not.?
Any suggestion in greatly appreciated... thanks

Chase will not like the fact you are trying to apply for multiple cards at the same time, you may be able to get approved via recon though...but if you do, there are better offers out there for more $$$ if you are interested. Downfall on those though are you need to spend $500 within 3 months, which most people do anyway.

Recon stands for reconsideration, you can call them and ask a credit analyst to manually review your credit report for reconsideration of approval for green or possibly even a different product such as Zync that I mentioned. And unfortunately, Credit Card Forum does not allow discussion of offers other than theirs.

My suggestion is since you are a 4 year college student, you work part time, 26,000 a year since you have a Bank of America, a capital 1 and a Discover. If I were you I would skip both Chase cards, the Slate and Freedom.

When you finish college and get yourself a career then you can think about another credit card if you really want another.
