Australian Credit Cards AMEX with the banks.

Postby fantasy86dj » Wed Mar 02, 2011 4:47 am

I have been shopping for a new credit card recently, the deals here in Australia really blow! The banks charge so much in an annual fee that its almost worth asking for headache pill. I really think that the Australian market of credit card's need shaking up. Especially with the low points capping, really? 1 QANTAS frequent flyer point spent per $1 on an AMEX up to $3000. Do any other Australian's agree with me on this one?

That is not nearly as bad as the caps on the gas card from Discover. It was $200 or $250 monthly when I canceled mine.

There are quite a few benefits that Australian American Express cards have that we in the United States don't. Compare the insurance benefits on the Australian Blue Sky to the American version and it's surprising how much better coverage you have.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed and linked to. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More

Gosh I just had a look - it's amazing the differences between the 2 countries. What is also different also is how the credit card system works between the 2 countries.
