Need Advice

Postby madil26 » Thu Jun 15, 2017 3:46 pm

Hello Everyone,
I was wondering about my approval chances for Chase Sapphire Or Chase Freedom Unlimited.

My Scores are (according to credit karma)

732 TU and 732 EQ

My income is around 20k , I'm still in college.

Current Cards : Citi TYP ($2300) increased yesterday by $1300 .
American Express Blue Cash: $2000 increased by $1000 yesterday
Capital One Journey ($500) Smiley Sad
And Discover it ($1250 ) auto CLI this month from $1000 to $1250.
What are my chances for Chase cards as I am under the 5/24 rule.

It's so hard to say, but I don't think you'll be able to get the $5k minimum limit on the Chase Sapphire with your income. But I've seen stranger things happen.
Cards:

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
-IHG

How about the Chase Freedom unlimited card? I know I can get the card but what lot am I looking at ? My highest right now is Citi ($2300) but they haven't reported the CLI yet. Should I wait to get that reported or apply anyway.

Just because you are under 5/24 is not a real indication of approval for any credit card. It is very YMMV with that rule because some people have gotten approved with more pulls. How long have you had each card? You have to factor in your AAoA, your usage, your payment history, etc. Even though all these components make up your credit score, individually, they carry weights and merits of their own.

You might get approved for the Unlimited with less than a 1000 limit, but can I ask why you are applying for a new card? Don't do it because you just want to have another card or chasing an offer. If you are making 20K and still in college, get a card because you need it. You definitely don't need a card that has AFs like the CSP.

My suggestion is, if you can, ask Capital One for a product change. The Quicksilver card offers 1.5pts/$1 like the Unlimited does.

Thanks for the suggestion. You've made me reconsider. I already have 4 Credit cards, why risk a H. P . All my cards have had 1 cli and my AAoA is 1 year exactly. I know I won't apply for the CSR because it's useless for me , I was interested in the freedom unlimited because of the 1.5% cash back.
