AA card bonuses are up a little.

I have no apps planned.

Applied and approved. Going back for free version in 8 days.

I lack discipline.

From a month ago:

Have international travel coming up? Or just getting whatever points you can while the cards are still open to apps?

I'm about to move (a rental, not a purchase) and will probably pick something up once settled at the new address.

Am I right in thinking all Amex Business Platinums are going from offering 50% of MRs back to 35% (when redeemed for revenue flights)?

That is, the guaranteed 2 cpp (1/0.5) will soon be only 1.538 cpp (1/0.5)?

Seems like a pretty major nerf for an option that's not very old.

My wife applied for a Discover it Miles, so we've got a 3% card for a year (plus my Discover for 5% on categories).

We booked an international trip through Amex Travel and redeemed all MR, so we got 1 cpp (I figured about a 1.3% return on spending excluding the introductory bonus). Not the best value possible, but it's decent and similar to what I would have gotten had I kept my Discover it as our main card and never applied for the ED, so I'm happy with it. The ED will be sockdrawered and used for offers. I really like Amex, but it's time to move on to something more valuable for us.

As for me, I've technically been "in the garden" for over a year. I doubt I'll apply for anything at least until her rewards are matched in a year.

Huge nerf.

I may xfer to SPG and convert into a 7ni package plus miles but not positive about the most future proof miles. Perhaps rapid rewards as they have a mostly fixed value and we have CP till end of 2018..

It looks like Amex Gold ($160 AF) is closed to new apps. No great loss.

Platinum holders can still add an AU Gold card.

PRG ($195 AF) is still available.

It's semi-retired. They aren't marketing it to new applicants. If interested, we just posted a blog with more details: blog/american-express-gold-card-discontinued/

I've applied for membership and a basic savings account with First Tech. Both are under review. Hopefully by the middle of next week things will have progressed to the point that I can app for the Choice Rewards MC.

Having some difficulty getting membership with First Tech with a recent address change and no history with them. Rather than get a giant headache over it, I'm just going to let the application die and maybe apply again in a few months.
