USPS keeps returning my mail, how do I get my card?

Postby forrestst » Mon Mar 13, 2017 3:16 am

USPS has my mail all screwed up. I've lived in this apartment for going on 5 years and it seems like I frequently get other people's mail. Back in December I stopped getting mail, I complained to the local Post Office and I started getting some mail, now in February, I stopped getting mail again. I placed an order the other week which was sent out USPS and I was just informed it was returned. I was recently approved for a Menards card and I called customer service because I haven't received it yet and was informed it was returned. I had them try to send it again but it was returned the second time.

I didn't know what was going on until someone handed me an envelope they tried to mail to me. The envelope had a yellow sticker on it that said, "Moved, Left no address" "Unable to deliver" "Return to sender". It also has the name "Roman" on it. How do the read my name and see "Roman"? That's not even close to my name! I complained at the Post Office again, I told the property manager and he contacted the Post Office but mail for me still gets returned. They said these stickers get put on my mail at the sorting facility and my mail never comes to my local Post Office.

Capital one has sent me an email that they have mail for me that's been returned and they need my new address. My new Menards card has been returned twice. Since I haven't moved and still have the same address, what can I do? I thought about getting a PO Box, but those things are almost useless now days.

My question is, what can I do until the Post Office decides to correct this mistake? My bank said my statements have been returned since November.

Since they apparently do not have a valid address on file somewhere for you, try filing a change of address form with them, with your current address and name listed. Even though your name and address haven't changed, somewhere along the line, they think so.

Alternatively, get a private mailbox either at the Post Office or one of those private mailer places.

The Post Office had me do a change of address from my current address to my current address. I started getting some but not all my mail for about a month and a half or so but now is back to the Post Office returning all my mail. I've had mail delivery to my door for going on 5 years with no problems. I checked on a PO Box and that will cost me $40 for 6 months. I could try to forward to the PO Box but most places want a verified physical address. We do have a UPS Store where I can have my mail sent, but that would cost me way more, I think it's $38 per month. If I do that, I have to drive 15 miles to get my mail and we have no clue if forwarding would even solve the problem.

Can you temporarily change your mailing address to a relative's or a friend's house and see if mail gets delivered there? Then use another change of address form to change it back.
