Postby CarefulBuilder14 » Thu Mar 02, 2017 6:57 pm

Pleasantly, I presently possess a piece of predominantly purple plastic providing powerful points.

No apps planned.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

I have no apps planned.

I do have trips planned to Houston, Fort Worth, Phoenix, Tuscon, Seattle, and Orlando in the next 12 months. All will originate at LAX and will be mixed carrier. I just canx my UA Club card and don't have a card that comes with PP....
Sapphire Reserve: travel & dining
Blue Cash Preferred: groceries & gas
Freedom: 5% cats
Double Cash: everything else

Any chance of a Green to Platinum upgrade offer?

No apps planned as I continue house-hunting. But I did just hit my one-year IHG anniversary and got an email saying my free anniversary night is on its way! Trying to decide if I should use it for my friend's suburban wedding in a few months, or something more aspirational.
Cards:

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
-IHG

What are the point and cash prices for the wedding stay? Remember to adjust for taxes and the 10% of points back. Unfortunately Accelerate will end 4/15, so you might not be able to get a lot of extra points for a revenue night. Still, it's worth checking for special rates.

After paying some bills and scheduling upcoming estimated tax payments, I'm already through the first leg of SPG's minimum spend. I like the ability to pay income taxes with a CC. If no retention, I may PC Prestige to a DC and keep it...a second card to absorb price rewinds, and an insurance policy against an SPG nerf.

I will probably leave the garden this month. BofA has a targeted $300 offer for me to open a checking account with them, and when I do, I am also planning to apply for a BBR card. That would give me an extra $20 a year plus a 10% boost on redemption of my Cash Rewards card.

And I never thought I'd say this but I'm thinking about whether to apply for the Amex Platinum before the AF goes up. The Uber credit actually makes the card more appealing to me. SFO is my home airport, so it'd be good to check out the centurion lounge too, now that I'm starting to fly around twice a year or so. On the other hand, I'm pretty invested in cashback and deal hunting so... I guess we'll see.

Which airlines do you fly out of SFO?

Just got my Ameriprise platinum for sky club access this fall. I'm working on getting DL GCs and will be closing the MB platinum soon. Other than that, nothing else planned. I might try a Chase branch this weekend one last time for the CSR (did the in-branch bonus go back to 100K?).
Main Cards:
Amex: Ameriprise Plat, Surpass
Chase: Hyatt

Sock drawer Cards:
Amex: HHonors
Chase: Amazon Rewards, Freedom
Citi: Macy's Amex, Simplicity, ThankYou
Citizens Bank: Cash Back Plus World
Discover: it
Elan: Bank Rewards
Synchrony: PayPal

755 Eq (12/16)|748 TU (12/16)|726 Ex (1/17)

Whichever one has the best flight at the times that work for me, followed by the best cost within those time windows. I'm not really loyal to any airline in particular.
