Bureau Not Reporting Loan

Postby TheChosenOne » Mon Jan 16, 2017 8:28 pm

Hello Credit Card Forum Members!

Recently I was trying to get a loan for a motorcycle and was denied. The bank used my credit information from Transunion for the loan. I have good credit but I was told I didn't have any loan history outside of credit cards such as a car loan, etc. Problem is I had a loan for a previous motorcycle I owned that I payed off within two years for a bit less than the amount as the one I was going to purchase. Come to find out my previous bank did not report to Transunion.

My question is, how do I go about adding my previous loan to my Transunion credit history? Will it hit my credit as a credit check? Is it worth getting it on there? I will ask my banker these questions as well but I wanted to make sure before I make the wrong move. Thank you guys in advance!

I don't believe it's possible to get an item "added" to a credit report because I'm pretty sure you can't get a bank/lender to report to a bureau they don't report to. They have to have an account set up with said bureau. I may be wrong, so curious to see what you learn!

I'm also wondering if the motorcycle lender would allow you to bring in a copy of whatever report has the motorcycle loan on it and factor that into its decision.

Yup, find out which credit bureau it did report to and ask your dealer/lender to pull that report.

If you don't mind my asking, what are your credit scores? It seems like this lender is being picky about having an installment loan specifically on your reports. In my experience, good credit usually suffices. It's when your score is really low that they start getting more nitpicky about having certain stuff on your reports.

-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
