Credit Card Application Denied - Who Should I Do?

Postby loogoo » Sun Dec 05, 2010 3:38 pm

My Chase credit card application was denied. I applied for the Freedom and am quite surprised that I was not approved. I don't think I have ever had a credit card application denied since I have been an adult. The denial letter hasn't came in the mail yet meaning I won't know the exact reason(s) until then but what should my next course of action be?

American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

I thought I need to wait for the denial letter in hand before I can request a copy?

Is it weird that I my credit card application was denied for the Freedom or are all Chase cards hard to get? I was under the impression that was an average credit card and not as high class as the Sapphire.

My application was denied too for a Citibank card.

A letter came in the mail a week later that said the decision was because off too many credit inquiries during the last 12 months. Do all banks use that reason for denial?

Some CCC's are very picky about inquiries, how many do you have?

I am sorry to hear your credit card application was denied. I would recommend you visit our sponsored ranking of credit cards for fair credit, which might be easier for you to get approved for. Good luck!

Doesn't Chase + others not let you apply if you have been denied within the past 6 months on their cards?
