You're only allowed 3 cards

Postby JonE » Tue Oct 11, 2016 11:56 am

Which ones do you keep?

Me personally I'd keep the Freedom (although possibly PC it to a Freedom Unlimited) and the Discover IT plus add a decent travel card (CSP or Venture). Since I'm having more synchrony problems, the store cards are on their way out. I get better cash back on the two cards I have now (not just statement credits).
Wallet: Chase Freedom, Discover IT
Chopping Block: Synchrony
Future: TBD

I would have the Chase Freedom 5%, Chase Saphirre Preferred and the CapOne Venture cards. All of them are VIsa. So, I can use any of them when I shop at CostCo.

1.) No-fee Arrival -- I get a nice return on all that I spend on travel and dining, and redemption is effortless

2.) IHG -- Nice for those times when I'm like, "Can I afford to go to that out-of-town wedding? Oh wait, I can get a free night at the Holiday Inn!"

3.) My old USBank account because it's so much older than my other accounts, that I'll just keep it forever.

That would mean I'd have to cancel the QuickSilver, but I was thinking of doing that anyway. Or sockdrawering it, in any case.
Cards:

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
-IHG

What problem are you having with Synchrony?
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

It's mainly with Walmart, every other time I log in it says I keep forgetting my security questions, and makes me change them before I can do anything account-wise. Isn't happening with the other two (yet!)

You've really got a love/hate thing with Walmart cards. Not like MS99 and Discover, though.

IHG and some sort of two-card combo that collectively offers travel perks, a Citi card, and a Visa.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

Not yet anyway. If these issues keep up that might be next on the chopping list.

Ironically enough, Discover is actually my best card, I've had the most luck with them with customer service. Not so much on CLIs yet.
