Penfed

Postby Tubpbs » Sun Aug 28, 2016 9:17 pm

Have been seeing commercials for them on TV all day today. Thought it was interesting as it seems like a potentially uncommon practice for a credit union, even of that size.
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

Saw the same thing. I hear their gas card is quite good (5% cash back)

I tried applying with them when I was fresh out of school. They wouldn't take a signed job contract as proof of income, only actual paystubs.

My gas card is now with Costco Visa for that reason :)

Location matters as well. I never see ads here in Houston but I certainly saw ads while visiting relatives in the DC area.

I've seen no PenFed ads in the NYC suburbs. The closest branches are the two at West Point, about 25 miles away.

CSP/FU ads used to be common here, but seem to have stopped. Now it's mostly Ink, United Explorer, Venture, and QS.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

I've actually been seeing some Penfed ads recently on TV here in Delaware. That said, none of their products credit card wise really interest me much, at least not enough to rush and app.
