All of us here (and most on MF) are going to be screwed with the new Sapphire card due to the 5/24 rule. So it sounds like an interesting card, but I'm not really even putting thought into it because it's unattainable for quite some time.

One thing I am watching though is to see what happens with the Starwood/Marriott merger. If that goes through as expected it could be a good way to get a backdoor in past 5/24 by getting the Amex SPG if you time it right for a Marriott card. Of course no bonus that way but it would bypass 5/24.

Haven't applied for a card since early June (BBR) and I don't intend on applying for one for the rest of the year. 5 cards in the first year of my credit history is quite enough.
Current cards: BankAmericard CR, BankAmericard BBR, Citi Double Cash, Chase Freedom, AmEx BCE, Discover It
Wishlist: US Bank Cash+

No, everyone will not be hit by the 5/24 rule. I have one app in the past two years (CSP,) and while we may have a higher than average number of users with frequent apps, it's far from everyone who apps often enou to be affected by 5/24.

I'm in the middle. If I keep gardening, I'll be eligible in 10.5 months (mid-June 2017).

So it would have to be a priority, but it's not out of the question.

Not sure I'll ever have an issue with 5/24 since there aren't that many cards I'd really be interested in. I'd like a Sapphire Preferred at some point, but I'll see what this one is like.
