Credit Card Suspended because Mail Returned

Postby cpecue » Fri Jun 10, 2016 12:46 pm

So today my Citi card was suspended because "they received mail returned to them". I had this problem when I first got the card and they sent it and said it was sent back. I have spoken with the post office and they know I live there and they didn't have any problems sending my mail from anywhere else. Has anyone else experienced this? I am completely annoyed because they suspended my account which shows as "closed" on my credit score. I now have to call them and explain AGAIN that I do live here and there should not be any reason my mail would be returned. I always paid on time and in full too.

There must be something more going on here no?

How long ago did that happen? How long after they tried to mail you something did they close or "suspend" your account? What were they trying to mail?

They were trying to send my statements. I didn't pay much attention that because I just checked online. It is unique to only the credit card companies. I had another company (Chase) do the same when they sent the card to me, ironically I still get advertisements from them in the mail just not the card. After they sent me the card the second time it was fine. It is incredibly odd.

I had mail receipt issues with a card once under similar circumstances but they never questioned it or suspended or closed the account. That's seems insane...

Well these are work around solutions rather than addressing whatever the problem is that's causing your mail to be returned but you might consider doing one of the following:

1) Open a PO box and use that as your mailing address. PO boxes are fairly inexpensive and can offer some other benefits too (e.g. greater privacy, stability if you move often, etc.)

2) Consider changing to paperless statements once you get everything worked out. If you don't really need your statements anyway there's no reason not to.

Anyway, good luck!
