If you buy things on Amazon or have NetFlix, you should try Amazon Allowance or paying for NetFlix with this card. That's more elegant than having to remember to use this card every month.

Funny story, I used to get just a bagel and schmear which totaled like 3 bucks and BofA kept grace paying it off and I realized I wasn't meeting my spend haha.

I'd heard BoA sometimes does this, which is why I intend to put $5 of spend on it every month through Amazon Allowance. What, in your experience, has been a safe threshold?

Idk...I'll think about it. Maybe I'll bite the bullet. Your're right it's not that hard to avoid the monthly fees, and I understand why they want to make people jump through hoops like that, but I just hate seeing conditions like that on the principle of paying a bank so they can use your money . A lot of banks have them, but you can also find banks with actually free accounts, which is how I feel it should be.

Very well said. I completely agree. I think that's actually a major reason why the BBR card never seemed that appealing to me. I too don't want to jump through the extra hoops to avoid the monthly fees on a new deposit account I won't use. I already have checking and savings accounts with Chase and Discover that are truly free - though I think Chase's checking wouldn't be if I didn't do direct deposit into it. I just don't have a desire to add BofA deposit accounts to the mix too.

I agree the BBR would be quite a bit more appealing if I already used BofA for deposit accounts.

I think the card is a unique, interesting product...but I just don't have much enthusiasm for becoming a BoA customer

If anybody wants to PC to BBR, people on MF seem to be suggesting that calling the BoA Wealth Management line (1-855-285-5110) has shown some success, so it might be worth a try. For reference:

Not sure. Probably not. It's possible those guys are not yet aware of the new PC rules regarding BBR.

I want to try this but don't know if it's worth my time... It definitely is if it works / happens.

No deal.

I did upgrade to the Cash Rewards card because there is no loss to me of any kind. She said the interest rate will remain the same, not that I'm carrying a balance, and there are no other factors to consider with the BankAmericard believe it or not.

I also had her upgrade me to Visa Signature which may or may not happen, but I'm thinking probably.

That person may have had Merrill Lynch accounts because that Merrill lady dumped me back onto regular customer service AND she did pretty much exactly what he said before that, which was immediately and blindly offer to change my card to the BBR.

Which card do you have, currently?

That would make sense. So I guess that means Merrill Lynch customers can still have their BoA cards PCed to BBR.

I have the BankAmericard.

Maybe they can and maybe they can't. Maybe the change will actually go through or maybe they'll say "no problem" on the phone and you'll receive an email 3 days later that says they could not fulfill your request.

At the end of the exchange, I was asked if I wanted an email record of the changes. I said yes. The email they sent me says something like "thank you for opening a claim with us. Your claim number is ____. We will keep you posted on the status of your claim"

We'll see.

This is a possibility if I don't decide to get the Citi Double Cash card (a distinct possibility since I'm not a big fan of Citi from past experiences). It would be nice for smaller expenditures like Netflix, but I'm not sure I'd use it for anything else (wouldn't necessarily have to).

Future: TBD
