I have applied for a lot of cards, but I can honestly say, before I do, I take my time and consider if I feel I can really make use of it. Does it offer some kind of value to me, that I want it? I mean it's not like collecting postage stamps or something every inquiry and new account drops your score. Some of these have an annual fee (his card had a really high annual fee at least to me). And like was mentioned Amex won't be refunding you if you dump the card or PC it once you pay the fee, that money is gone whether you keep it or not.
It just seems a stupid way to live your life but people have the right to do it. I just can't understand the backwards thinking I mean to me you research it and see how it fits you and your needs, and then you go for it. I still agonize a little bit over every app I make. I may take weeks to think about it and research the card. Not all of them, but most. And I sure wouldn't go onto a board asking if people think the card is worth it. Maybe it's completely worth it to them, but how do they really know if it's worth it to you? YOU know that better than they ever could, or should be able to figure it out. They can't possibly know your situation as well as you do. Well not in any legal way I'm aware of anyway!
It just kind of blew my mind a bit. You have to wonder how they live life.
This is perfectly said. The only thing I would add is simple. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone acts without thinking. Everyone has something to learn.
I wasn't nasty in my response. I just said that he should have thought about that before he applied. I can completely understand if he didn't. But now that an intelligent point has been made, absorb the information and acknowledge that it makes perfect sense. Don't act like a 4 year old child who is also a moron.
I think your question is valid as well. Exactly how do these people live their lives? He buys dinner without checking if he's allergic to it or not? Buys clothes without seeing if they fit? Gets a tattoo of some image he's never seen before?
The Delta Platinum card isn't permanent, but the HP will last two years and if he closes the card today, that will last 10. God forbid someone let him know he may have made a mistake and he should think before he acts next time.
Also, I plan the shit out of my apps and I haven't apped for anything in almost a year and I had a couple apps very well planned that you're making me (and I'm making myself) second guess now.
