Citi Prestige

Postby Tubpbs » Fri Jun 03, 2016 6:56 am

FYI - I was reimbursed for my TSA Pre check on my statement that just cut.

The charge was $85 - they reimbursed me for the max ( for global entry) of $100.

Pretty interesting. I thought it was weird. Amex Platinum reimbursed me the $85 - no games.

I did NEXUS (which, due to government math, costs only $50 even though it includes Precheck and Global Entry.) Didn't get reimbursed by any card issuers, but my employer picked up the tab due to my frequent business travel.

That's pretty good. It's for 5 years also??? That seems a little crazy.

Also, doesn't quite fit the title of the thread but does fit the topic... Went into the Delta Sky Club on the Platinum today. Got free breakfast and had a nice, quiet, semi-clean place to sit. It was pretty huge. I liked the Admiral's clubs I went into more but that was more decoration wise I guess, not sure. May have been "fancier" as well.

Useful perk though. I'm gonna swing by the Centurion Lounge on my way back home and see how it is.

Yep. Same duration as the other programs. It's basically Global Entry (the card even looks the same, except for the title) but with Canadian vetting as well as US vetting. In exchange, you additionally get comparable privileges in Canada -- easier entry into Canada by land/water/air and access to CATSA priority security lines at Canadian airports. The main catch is that since you have to be interviewed by both US CBP and Canadian CBSA, interview locations are mainly restricted to the US-Canadian border or nearby major cities (like Seattle or Vancouver.)

I've resisted the Delta Gold AmEx. Don't make me covet the Platinum or Reserve. :ppp

Do any lounges stipulate that your same-day boarding pass can't be for a flight you just completed? I can imagine circumstances where I'd like to hang out at a lounge for a few hours after arriving at my destination....like if I can't check in at a hotel yet, and the weather is awful making exploring a city unpleasant.

Of course, the need to pick up a checked bag would often make this impractical.

It's the regular Platinum. Not the Delta Platinum. I don't see much value in that over Delta Gold anyway unless you're traveling a ton and have many bags. (This is off the top of my head). What is the difference mainly? The Platinum earns Medallions or something?

I haven't noticed anything like that but I also haven't tried to do it. My guess is no. Further, I'm sure even if the computer automatically denied entrance, any person that works there that isn't a total asshole ( as long as you're not being an asshole about it) would likely let you in without any issue.

I was in a rush, but I did just try this at CentSFO. Arrived-at-destination members are welcome. A very nice place. Will stay there for longer next time.

A nice brunch, if hurried. :)
