Couldn't agree more. Between security theater, long lines, cramped seats (no, work doensn't let me fly Business Class, and on personal travel I'm too cheap to), bad airplane food, overpriced airport food options, long lines, flight delays with the resultant missed connections...air travel pretty much sucks.

I fly when I have to, but I will drive whenever that's a practical alternative, even if it means an extra hotel night or two.

Theater indeed, when TSA misses 95% of undercover inspectors' weapons...

He didn't go away until I got pissed off at him. I was taken by surprise how quickly he cleared out after just getting mad at him. I can't be sure it was real, but I don't get where my mind would have pulled this from. But if it was all in my mind, then I really was screwed up that day.

All I know is I don't want a 2nd visit and would love to make a charge back on the first visit as I didn't order that on any of my cards. :ppp

Not sure what to tell you about that, but if I ever have a dream where the devil has a red beard and blue suit, I'll know it's time to think less about credit...

In other news I have had the worst migraine for the past month or so. It was killing me everyday and on top of it I was confused most of the time. Taking meds the doctor ordered seemed to make the confusion much worse. Even more messed up I had a super natural experience. I saw the devil appear as an angel. I may very well wind up with 5 cards in my arsenal the way it's looking.

Chase Freedom, Discover IT and Amazon Prime are the ones I have now. The only ones left I have any interest in are CSP and Freedom Unlimited. Amazon is the only 'store' card worth keeping since I shop there frequently and I like the 5% OR the finance deals.
Current Cards: Chase Freedom, Discover IT
Future: TBD

Although I am the first one to mention that the whole "diversity" thing is often used as an excuse to justify addiction, I'd be wary of that lineup. Discover isn't accepted quite everywhere, and all of those Chase cards are Visa products. If there's ever an issue with Visa and/or your Chase accounts, you'd have an issue. I don't think people need a bunch of different networks just to have them, but you may consider opting for a Mastercard or at least something outside of Chase. The amount of times it will be an issue is probably extremely low, but something to be aware of.

At the same time, a friend of mine had literally only an Amex for years, other than this Mastercard debit, and never had a problem.

I second the suggestion to at least get a Visa from another issuer besides Chase. Chase's fraud department is extremely jumpy and very liable to block all your cards the moment they detect "abnormal" activity. Which could be anything from traveling to the next state over to purchasing something you don't "normally" purchase.

Yea I know, I went to a number of them. What I learned is I don't react well to a number of medications and I just happen to be one of those people that can have some really nasty side effects from being on some kinds of medications.

I just happen to be glad I am not having migraines any more. I likely should have gone to the ER that day or maybe the day before as well. I know my story is nuts, but it's what happened.

I would say BarclayCard for MasterCard, but your description of Chase pretty much sums up Barclay as well. I could use Citi as my MC but I'm not huge fans of theirs honestly.

I've really only seen one or two places that don't take Discover, and I'm not one of those people who thinks lineup diversity is a big issue, especially with the level of spending I've been putting on the cards lately. The frequent places I shop (Amazon, Apple, Target, Kroger and a few others) all take Discover. I could go with 5 cards, or I could just drop the two Synchrony accounts I have and stick with Freedom (possibly product changing to Unlimited) and Discover. As it happens, I also have a MasterCard Debit from Ally that I use alongside Bill Pay. I'm in no mood to deal with 10+ cards, and even more than 5 might be too much. 5 is just a max if I decide something else might be useful.
