I heard on MF that the US bank cash+ won't need a 5k CL after the 20th so I might go for it then.

Going to wait until after the 20th to ask FNBO for a soft pull CLI. If I can't get one then I might just go and app for a Blispay. Still unsure about that though.

SFO lounge is nice. It's busy, but running smoothly. Most of the food is pretty good.

And I have been enjoying the tip-only/almost free drinks. I see tipping is not universal practice here. It doesn't look like an American/foreigner thing. Rather, it does seem that many (presumably) American customers don't feel the need to tip.

*$450 is a lot, but when they bring in guests and all get complicated drinks...I think tipping is definitely appropriate then.

**I don't know how good the base pay is here, though. I'm assuming Amex/its contractors follow common practice where base pay is low.

Re: How are you liking the Prestige?

I like having both Platinum and Prestige. I plan to keep both as long as I'm flying a lot and occasionally can get to an AA and Centurion lounge.

I'm on the same page. I plan to keep them both long term. I really wish the Platinum still gave the MR boost it used to. That would make the card worth literally thousands of dollars a year for me. The chances of it coming back are presumably less than zero unfortunately.

How many flights a year would you say you take?

Not much until this year. Between my own travel and travel with relatives where guest lounge access is nice, travel in 2016 might reach 20 person-segments.

What's a person segment? One way flight?

One leg/segment of a one-way trip for one person. If someone travels with me on a nonstop-both-ways roundtrip itinerary, it's four person-segments. If I fly alone one-way but have two layovers, that's three person-segments.

Got it. I'll probably have more this year. I fly pretty much everywhere with my fiancé so any round trip is 4 already. I've already either flown or scheduled three round trips for both of us and one solo trip. Will have two or more round trips again before the end of the year.

Oddly enough, I hate it almost every time I fly and even if I don't have a bad experience I regret it to some degree. Just how it is. It's a shitty process.

Well, my life is divided presently between the west and east coasts. So long as that's the case, I don't have practical alternatives to flying.
