One card is too limiting. Dozens of cards become a chore just to keep track of, let alone the problem of spreading rewards too thin.

I've got five credit cards at the moment. Everyone's situation is different, but this happy medium seems to work OK for me.

To My Credit wrote:Speaking of Citi Double Cash and Blispay, I was planning on (re)applying for the Double Cash card next, but I've recently looked up the Blispay card and the rewards structure seems to be more convenient. Which of the two would you guys recommend, from a long-term perspective?

I always pay my balance in full and on time, so APR and BT are completely irrelevant to me. All I care about is having a card that is widely accepted (and isn't nerfed) which I can use for a long time for miscellaneous expenses that don't fall under any specific rewards category.

They are pretty much the same if you pay in full every month -- Double Cash will give the full 2% on each statement in this case if you pay before the statement comes. If not, there's a bit of a lag, since you won't get the extra 1% on payment for another month. Blispay just deducts the 2% monthly from your bill. Double Cash has more redemption options, but doesn't offer the financing. If the financing isn't a concern, I'd probably lean towards Double Cash. Blispay is a startup, no telling how long it will stick around, and if you're worried about the long term, Citi is a huge company unlikely to suddenly disappear. While Citi does have a history of nerfing/changing products, chances are even if they pull Double Cash, there will be a lengthy grandfathering period for existing users.

I may wind up with five at some point. 3 Cash back card, a travel card with points, and the Amazon Prime card for shopping there since that gets statement credits for purchases OR the financing over $199.

Thanks, I'll probably just stick to the Double Cash, then. I don't mind a little delay with the rewards as long as I still get them.

Re: I went with amex plat for Holton and starwood and rental upgrades at national hertz and avid and the ihg for holiday inn and the choice hotels card. That gives me a lot of flexibility and mr points can be transferred to the choice card which pairs it well with amex.

- Keep in mind that there's no 50% bonus on MR transfers for Choice like there is for Hilton.

Your needs and a card's rewards/perks can change. You can always try out a travel card with a decent bonus, a modest AF and low minimum spend requirement.

I think you said you have a balance to pay down (which is obviously important, and a priority).

You often don't need a crystal ball to try a card/program out (with $400-ish AF cards a possible exception). A decent bonus can give you room to redeem inefficiently and still come out ahead.

I'm pretty close to paying off at least 2 cards, and should have everything taken care of within a month or two. The two highest are Discover and Chase, I should have Discover taken care of end of June or so. Of what I have now I'll only really cut Care Credit and just let the others grow.

I expect to be at CentSFO for several hours this afternoon (Tuesday) if any regular posters will be there and want to meet for a drink. Send a private message if so. I can offer guest access. :)

Be sure to hit up the wine bar for me. Haven't been in months!

FYI - I did make it into the lounge in Las Vegas. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

1. It was tiny.
2. It was literally full to the brim with people.
3. It was king or gross.

I think that's enough points. Every other lounge I've been in (severa Admiral's Clubs, Sky Lounge, not sure if there were any others) were significantly nicer, calmer, larger, quieter, and so on.

I hope it's just because it was Las Vegas, but I don't know.
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It
