looking for a CC with a specific feature I'd like (text messages)

Postby Risky00 » Mon May 24, 2010 5:31 pm

Basically, I want it to send me an e-mail or SMS with the _details_ of every authorization and transaction in real-time - any CC's that provide this service?

Scenario 1:
1. I give the waitress my card at a restaurant, I get an authorization notification when she runs my card.
2. Later I get an update showing the actual transaction amount including the tip.

Scenario 2:
1. I get a text at the gas station right as the pump turns on after I put in my card.
2. As I drive away I get a 2nd text with exactly how much I was charged.

Through Bank of America you can get an email and or text message every time your card is run. Their is no fee. Understand that you will not receive this message until the acct is actually charged so when the waitress swipes the card the transaction will generally pend. On other things that go through right away you will receive notification immediately. The text and email contain the name of the company that ran it and the amount ran. Hope this helps. Any questions feel free.

What you are looking for is not always possible. When you stick your card in a pump or give it to a waitress for an authorization the authorization is done by teh merchant bank. The credit card company may or may not be involved/notified at that point. There are various ways the merchant bank can do the authorization and not all of them involve communicating to your issuing bank. For example, one way is using address verification - they simply verify teh address associated with the card.

I have a business that accepts cards and recently changed merchant banks. With my old merchant bank then authorization was directly to V or MC and occurred immediately. My new account is cheaper and gives me only an approval based on a quick review done by the merchant bank. The charge then is cleared about 24 hours later.

So, I can see why you would want what you are looking for. But even if you find it I don't think it will truly give you what you want.
