I'm very tempted to apply now and bank the points, but if I'm going to get a Platinum card I want to at least try to use some of the perks with it. I know I'd be paying $450 and not using any of the benefits.
Even though I've been hoping to eventually get targeted for 100K, I don't think it makes sense for me to jump on this now...I'd view it as essentially paying $450 for 60,000 MR (possibly fewer if I continue getting targeted offers). As much as it pains me, I'm going to resist and keep my once-in-a-lifetime bonus option open.
Gift cards can give you some value with the $200 credit, but waiting until you can use the perks is probably best. 75k or 100k could easily return soon. Between layovers and guests, I'll have like 15-20 person-segments in the next year, so plan to use the perks very frequently.
I think PRG has gone to 75k.
