Air Tran Credit Card Bait and Switch

Postby tmin10 » Fri May 21, 2010 2:07 pm

Be careful when signing up for these cards online. You have two choices, a fee and no-fee card.

If you sign up for the fee card which gives you many more A-plus credits towards travel, if you don't qualify??, they will put you into the no-fee card with less A-plus credits automatically with no notice.

When I called in they said I should have read the fine print and will not fix this problem for me.

I qualified for their lowest rate and have excellent credit, no one could tell me why I dndn't get the card I signed up for.

Well, lets put this card in the drawer and forget about it.

That's too bad to hear about the Air Tran credit card. I have heard of other cards doing the same thing- automatically giving a lower level card if not approved for the top card. Tends to be typical with credit cards but a pain in the butt nonetheless.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed and linked to. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Chase Sapphire Preferred
