Got a trip coming up in September, and looking at the price of hotels has got me eyeing hotel cards for the first time. TU FICO is hovering just above 800, so got my sights set on the IHG card. Low enough annual fee to justify getting my feet wet with hotel rewards.
Cards:

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
-IHG

I like the card and the IHG program in general. The best signup bonus I've seen on the card is 80k+$50, and they occasionally revive that offer.
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt, Arrival
May close or PC: Prestige, BrooksBros

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech

What's the appeal of a PLOC for a rewards hunter?

Yeah, I'm going to wait maybe another month or two and see if that bonus comes back up. I've also noticed that IHG sometimes will offer me a 70k bonus in their promo emails to me (I'm already part of their loyalty program).

Good to know you like the program. I figure we do enough over-night airport stop-overs before international trips that we'd use the free night every year (and earn back the annual fee).

One of the great things about the program is that there are so many ways to get points cheaply (Priceless Surprises, bonus point rates up to 30k, points + cash rates, buying points with a 100% bonus). You don't need to get spectacular redemptions because it's generally easy to get more points. Compare that to Hyatt, where the redemption values are generally better, but points only trickle in slowly.

Yeah, I was exploring the IHG program last night and thinking to myself, "Cool, this looks fun." Hadn't thought of Priceless Surprises -- thanks!

Hey, if it's all on the same inquiry you might as well load up. AKA Penfed new member app spree.

I hope they run it again next year. They got a lot more mail-in responses than they were prepared to handle.

I've dropped Delta Gold from my "next card" shortlist. Since the bonus is once per lifetime, and the only big perk is free checked bags, I'll wait for a better (60k+) offer.
