I have noticed that when you spread the same spend across more cards, the wait for redeeming them is a lot longer. You may gain a point here and there by gaming different categories but it kinda feels like the progress has slowed.

I'm way guilty of chasing bonuses but the cards are also good cards IMO. I see how ppl get addicted to this whole thing and I'm hyper aware of my own apping behavior. LOL

At one time, I was shooting for up to 10 cards. Now I'd be lucky if I kept 3-4 around. Chase Freedom and Discover are keepers, CareCredit is next out the door, Amazon is possibly going away after 6 months or a year. I do a lot of spending at Amazon, but the 5% cash back statement credit isn't that good a deal. Maybe the Freedom Unlimited if the UR points are offered along with cash back. If not than maybe the Amex EDP. Beyond that, I think I'm done.
Current Cards: Chase Freedom, Discover IT
Future: TBD

Congratulating people for a store CC is like congratulating someone for chopping their thumb off instead of their hand.

And, beyond that, a section for approvals for the Visa/MC cobrand versions of store cards when the applicants already have the store-only versions.

And one for people who apply for cards right after a widely advertised, easily accessible (not requiring a targeted invitation or little-known link) promotion ends. 30k AA Platinum, anybody?

SPG 35k expires 3/30.

The details of Schwab Platinum might not be available until 3/31. Hopefully they'll be out sooner.

Otherwise, I'll have a dilemma: Go for the known or pass on it and hope the unknown is good.

Either way, I just paid off my modest carried balances at 0% on EDP and SM.

Interestingly, my Citi Diamond card is offering 5% cash back on all online purchases for March as a statement credit (up to $25 - $500 in spending). This card normally doesn't offer any cash back, but could now come in handy since I do make a lot of online purchases. This is also a great way for me to keep the card open (since I only used it for financing, and haven't used it since my initial purchase).
American Express: Blue Cash Everyday (10k), Everyday, ; Discover It (7.3k) ; Target (2.1k)

Citi: Diamond (2k) ; Bank of America: Cash Rewards (2.6k) ; Capital One: Quicksilver (3k) , Sony ; Chase: Freedom (3.7k), Slate (3k), (Amazon) ; Barclay Ring ; Synchrony: Walmart MC, Amazon, Ebates

My fiancé had that card and I would say around this time last year they offered her 5% at restaurants for up to $50 in earnings.

It would be nice if they just added some permanent cash back options to the Diamond, but it's nice they give you something. Better than nothing! "Online purchases" is nice and broad.

Looks like this might be a good couple of months for paying off credit card balances. Income is going up thanks to a department change and raise at work, and an opportunity for massive amounts of overtime. Amazon will be the first PIFed ($550 as of today). Then I can wipe out CareCredit ($1000ish) and Discover ($1400 - maxed) soon after while putting a sizable dent in Chase Freedom.

Where did all those balances come from? Didn't you just get the Discover and Freedom? Or am I making that up?

Freedom I've had for 1 1/2 years, Discover I got in November last year. The balances are mainly from some bills that needed paying that I didn't have the money for upfront, until now.
