I got a non-rewards Fifth Third card the very same way. Couldn't help myself. LOL I'm glad I have a little more self control nowadays.

I think we've all gotten a mailer and impulsively applied for something. Now I just throw out mailers. If there's a card I want, let's be honest: we're all on these sites often enough to know what's out there. So I don't need a mailer to tell me about it. If I wanted to app, I would. Can't let a mailer sway me.

Those who constantly "fall out of the garden" due to mailers/prequals they checked despite being in the garden/etc are the ones who never get anywhere.

Me Too. Just canned my Sportsmans guide Visa. It had a $8,000 CL, was my highest. but no benefit to me.

Does smoked pheasant taste better when purchased with the Marriott card vs. Sportsman?

I actually did opt out (not permanently) in the spring of '14 for some of the reasons KDM pointed out. In all fairness, I banked with Fifth Third so a second CC with them didn't bother me. Were it not for the mailer, however, I'd have never applied for the card. It's dead weight.

*edit* Not that there's anything wrong with carrying whatever card(s) a person wants. I'm just saying for my spending patterns, some cards aren't a good fit. To each his own. :)

I remember being approved for a Castner Knott card (later became Dillards) when I was maybe 18 or 19. That was a great place to have credit! LOL

I keep one of each: Amex, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

I also have recently acquired a Chase Disney Visa (No AF) because you get a 10% discount if you use it at Disney parks for purchases/dining.. I happen to frequent their parks. I was out at Disneyland, recently, and everywhere I went they asked if I had the Chase Disney Visa so I could get the discount so it struck me as a fairly universal discount and not one at just some odd restaurant and shop (which they've done in the past with their annual passes and even previous Visa cards).

KingSize- I am a very large man, the closest DXL store or any that I can buy my size decent clothes is 90 miles away, so I do use it for a purpose and they have pretty good rewards. Dillards is also a store close buy that we use.

But I have been gardening good since, only taking CLI's with no HP. thinking of what to do with Slate, do not want to upset the cart with Chase, and it is one of my first cards, but not useful. down the road, AFTER gardening for much longer, may be interested in Chase CSP.
