Getting 6% grocery/3-5% fuel money is always my first concern. That's the bulk of our spending. Anything else that doesn't fall into a category for Chase or Discover usually goes to the Citi DC but I've started doing this weird rotation thing with all my other cards. I kinda think of it as wear leveling for my trade lines. :D

*edit* Ok so to serve the thread's purpose: I only made it 6 months without an app. Maybe I'll last longer this time.

I do think it's important to rotate and use each card. For small, few dollar transactions, 1% vs 2% makes no big difference and you can "show usage" on the other card. Of course, it varies whether this matters to a person or not.

AA Platinum, 18.24%, $4,600.

I feel like getting one card every three months is a good pace for me for rewards hunting. :)

This is the first card I've gotten purely for the bonus.

And EX was frozen. They must have pulled something else, since I was instantly approved.
Keeping indefinitely: IHG, SchwabPlat, CSP, Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE, Hyatt
May close or PC: Prestige, Arrival, BrooksBros
AA Platinum converting into Costco

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech
Letting new accounts cool off since May

Says the points are enough for 2 domestic round trip flights. Sounds like quite a bit of dollar value. I've never flown but I can't imagine air fare to be cheap. Anyway, excellent snag! :)

Thanks!

Most of my flights involve hubs or focus cities. I can usually get a reasonable cash price, but I'll take miles where I can get them.

I got the biz version recently but may also apply for the personal version. Anyone know if 65 day rule applies between both personal and biz?

App talk in the garden! Bad bad bad! Lol

Congrats on the approval, Carefulbuilder! AA card seems to provide a pretty nice amount of value from the bonus.

It's nice to have more flexibility in booking, since I can't transfer MRs or URs directly to AA. I'm also curious to see how the Price Rewind feature works.

I've never heard of the 65-day rule, Nixon, so can't help there.

Well it seems Citi loves killing trees sending me about 5 offers in less than two months for the Diamond Preferred card. I have zero interest in the card and so those offers will be thrown out.

Chase sent me an offer for the freedom card with a fixed %18.99 APR when the %0 promo ends but I would get rejected under the 5/24 rule and really If I did it at all it would be for the bonus only. (Leaving aside the fact I don't want to do business with Chase period.)

Citi loves hyping up the Diamond card. I dont know why. I get mailers for it all the time. But it offers no benefit except for mysterious "easy deals".
