same card number but new expiration date...?

Postby 7055 » Wed Dec 09, 2015 1:09 pm

If I have auto-pay set up to automatically charge my credit card for my bills, but then my credit card company issues a new credit card with the same number but a new security code and expiration date, and I don't update the credit card info on my automatic bill pay, will the payments be declined?

Not completely. I have had Chase cards replaced and auto-payments go through for at least one more month. Last time the card was replaced they sent me a list of all the places that were auto-payments. It said some will continue, and others would need to be updated immediately.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

Not always but if you want to play it safe then update the card info. Is the risk of late payment and potential penalties worth the laziness?
