I find reddit /r/personalfinance a better place to get advice. It had the same circlejerk, but really good advice.

Maybe I'll add Double Cash or another Citi card to my wish list since they offer a free EQ FICO to all their customers. Discover already covers TU, and I could get AMEX for EX. Then just use Credit Karma (EQ/TU) and Credit Sesame or another alternative for EX monitoring.

It just struck me that I've never gotten my EQ FICO. I know the report is clean (which I find to be more useful information) via CK, but I've never seen the actual score.

The only HP I've ever had on EQ was for my failed app for an individual Discover, and my history at the time was too short to have a FICO. For the joint application that led to getting the account a week or so later, the original HP was used to assess my creditworthiness.

My cards that provide FICOs on an ongoing basis just offer TU and EX.

So maybe I do have a FICO in the 760+ range, with just the one inquiry about to fall off. :ppp
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

Wow, this latest thread really blows my mind.

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit- ... -p/4379897

First of all, it's the usual myfico apping just out of boredom or just because. And of course, also as usual, only a few people say "you don't need anything"; most jut oblige and provide suggestions that are of minimal or zero gain for the OP.

But even OP's attitude is troubling. Why is there some arbitrary need to get "just one more card" before the end of 2015? How is 2015 different than any other year in your life? I just don't understand. I do, to a point, understand diversifying but OP seems a bit obsessed about it. These aren't stocks/investments, just credit cards. While it's important to not put all of your eggs in one basket so to speak, you also don't NEED a card from every lender that's out there and make the excuse of "diversifying". No, you are addicted to apps/cards...

The only word that fits that mess is addiction. I think after 5 issuers/cards for most people the argument for not putting all your credit eggs in one basket begins to greatly diminish. I did that this year and went slightly over broad with the last card from FNBO but anyways I don't do it like they do.

I would like a US bank Cash+ but for one I know that would be a wasted HP, for two I have this low limit card to deal with and for three my report needs a long rest from any more AAOA hits. I am not going to "fall out of the garden" over a AARP card and the fact stupid Chase is the issuer makes it easy for me to stay away from those sub-prime scum bucket cards with monthly account fees.

Then you're a rare breed since it seems plenty who were "done with apps" just couldn't resist that AARP lol  The garden thread is ridiculous over there. Half of the "regulars" in it have no business being there because they "fall out" every 2 minutes - so what's the point? They gush about how it offers so much encouragement not to app but that's really, really not the case. Nothing about that site does anything except encourage apping.

Really just a cesspool and getting worse each and every day.

As for me, I took enough AAOA hits in 2015, so I'm really just gardening for the foreseeable future. There's nothing out there that offers any huge gains for my spend level/income, so unless something ridiculously great comes out, I'm in for the long haul. I realized chasing every penny by apping for a bunch of cards isn't worthwhile for me. I hope to end up eventually with a very solid set of 4 cards and that's that.

As though the itch goes away when you scratch it. It goes away when you stop thinking about scratching it every week.

Yeah that logic of theirs never works out. They "scratch the itch", then a week later something else comes along and they are "itchy to apply". Do they not realize this isn't normal?

What cracks me up is some of the signatures that show their gardening date. One in particular says "Gardening since 12/18/15" (read: three days ago).

SOME sense is kicking in with that thread since there are people advising him to stop apping.
