Was Pre-qual for Barclaycard Arrival plus WEMC so bit like a hungry Catfish & Approved with $3,500 CL. Now when time is right I will get rid of Cap one QS one & Chase slate and have my line-up that I want. Tried to get them to increase my limit on the Arrival + to $7,000, but no go. Not any history with them and too many inquiries. Back in the Garden to stay

Did you just get it for the first-year bonus? Or you plan to make it your "everything else" card? The earn rate on Arrival+ beats your other cards, and would seem to replace or threaten Marriott as your everyday card.

When it comes to CLIs, Barclaycard likes a lot of spending and regular use. Not surprisingly, I've not gotten a CLI on either Arrival/Sallie in 6/15 months.

Yes, after I meet my bonus min. on Marriott, will probably only use it for Marriott stays and maybe some at Restaurants.
Will use AMEX BCP for Groceries, BOA for Gas % arrival mainly for all else.
Discover it $3k
BOA CR Visa Sig. $18K
Chase Freedom Visa $2K
Chase MRP Visa Sig. $5K
Cap 1 Vent Visa Sig. $13K
Citi HH Visa Sig. $8.5K
AMEX Plat NPSL
AMEX BCP $20K
AMEX Gold Delta SM $8K
BC AR + WEMC $3.5K
Cap 1 Spark Busin Visa $2K
Chase Ink Cash Busin Visa Sig. $5K

So do people consider all drapping to be alike? Or are there different grades of it?

Is it more reasonable to app for a card you've been considering vs. something seemingly random?
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

Nothing. It was a general question.

Haha. I figured. While I don't consider much about "drapping" because I think the notion is ridiculous, I would agree that it would be much more reasonable / forgiveable to do it for a product or card that you actually want and have been or are planning on eventually getting. The vast majority of my apps over the last year plus have been planned for much later down the road and I changed my mind in the middle of an evening and went for it. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the process of breaking down and going for it...

Have you ever done it? ...drapping that is.

I drapped for DC one night after I had apped for the BCP. I was feeling good and wanted to have that in the stable before the supposed 1 year "no new accounts" for the supposed mortgage were were planning. Well 6 months later and it is the only card I sort of regret. We are not planning a mortgage in the next 12 months, and realistically Freedom, CSP, and BCP meet 99% of my needs. Yes, I could earn an extra fraction of a percent by using the DC on non category spend, but I really don't think it is worth the effort. it might change in the next few years though so I have no plans on closing it. If nothing else, it helps my util and AAoA.

I think drapping for store cards is utterly useless though. I mean Amazon offers 99% of what you would find in a B&M store at a better price. The only advantage to B&M is instantaneous possession. SO anyone that is drapping for store cards already has a predisposition to instant gratitude. That is a bad thing to mix with alcohol.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

I ended up killing a "Congrats!" thread on MF about someone's Neiman Marcus store card when I mentioned how Discover gave 30% cash back on the same online purchases there (5% category+10% portal)*double rewards promo.

Surprised they didn't close the thread pending mod review and ban you for a week. :lift:

And that's the problem. People get so wrapped up in store-specific rewards that they app for cards they don't need when they already have a better alternative! Obviously the Discover thing isn't permanent, but there is no need to worry about any department store cards right now, IMO, if you have a discover.
