The 50k mile offer is appealing, but I should garden.

I wish I knew how much longer the offer would be around, or when it would return in the future. I've got my 2015 and 2016 PRG credits to use, so it would be great to switch to AAdvantage Platinum around March or April 2016 if I decide to close PRG.

Do you fly primarily American? I am gaining a preference for that airline.

Have you considered replacing the PRG with the Citi Prestige?

I've flown a variety of airlines, with 2-3 round trips a year. IIRC, 3 of my 8 (ETA: round trip) flights in the last 3 years have been American (and 1 more was then-US Airways). I think there were 2 Delta and 2 Virgin. All were round trip bookings.

It might be more sensible to keep PRG so I can change the credited airline as useful and churn cobranded airline cards.

And I'm happy to wait for an extra statement credit!

I would agree that the PRG is an all around better card, especially if you're not set on one airline or almost one airline. I see the temptation to go for the sign up bonus on the AAdvantage card, but it doesn't seem like it's going to provide long term value unless your habits change.

I am finding myself trying to convince myself that certain co-branded hotel or airline credit cards work for me for varying reasons, but then I remind myself that I'm distorting things to see them the way I want to...

What region of the country do you live in?
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

I mostly fly out of JFK and LGA.

The cards I have, I plan to keep. Any airline cobrand cards I add I am likely to close after a year or two.

Have you been thinking of adding more cards? Or you were planning to save a HP for a CLI on something else?[/quote

No. Actually I am very set for now, just did not want to hurt my score any. But I think it was worth it, I use that card for groceries & gas when Freedom & Discover are not 5% on those. Good increase I think though

Well, so much for being set..LOL I checked pre-qual for Amex Blue cash preferred, and was qualified, so applied and got approved for it with a $4,000 CL...Now I can not think of anything else I need, we don't Fly, I am a large guy and would probably be charged for two tickets..LOL, maybe way down the line if we go to Europe then a Airline card. Very excited about the 6% on Groceries, but sure I will take a big credit score hit with all the Inquiries. Oh well, gardening again!

BCP is a good "specialty card" for groceries. What signup bonus and AF terms did you get?

I fly out of the same airports. I have taken a lot of flights in the last 12 months and I am scattered all over, though American was in the most frequent but still not the majority of my flights. Problem is that I don't fly to the same places...

Do you have first hand experience with point transfers with MRs or URs?

You just give Amex and/or Chase your hotel/airline loyalty account information. I can't know which partners are best for you.

Hyatt, United (especially premium seats), and British Airways are pretty popular for offering a good value per point. A lot of people find Delta flights cost too many points.
