I'm going to take a little leave of absence from the credit world. No tales of woe, rants, or account closures. I'm just spending too much time thinking about applying for airline cards when I can clearly see what I already have is adequate for now. I'll be back in early 2016.
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

Don't blame you. This stuff can be overwhelming if you let it be, and consume way too much time when at the end of the day, it's just not that important. Good luck and see you soon!

I may do the same since I have all I need at this point. Freedom, Discover and the Synch Cards (although they're gone after PIF on each, Walmart may be very soon). Probably will apply for CSP and EDP toward the end of 2016. Not much to discuss in between now and then.
Wallet: Chase Freedom, Discover IT

Hope you enjoy the holidays and find it more fun after comimg back from a little breather. I can certainly see how it can all get a little too consuming.

Look forward to seeing you back next year!

I'll pick up some of the slack. Probably will post more here because myfico truly is getting ridiculous. People there love to extrapolate their experiences into sweeping generalizations.

Someone applied for a Chase cobranded card and it went pending. One of the users chimes in with "one of my apps went pending, I called and was declined. Then I waited when I applied the next time and was approved!". Basically implied that as long as you don't call, you'll be approved. Which is ridiculous and inaccurate. It's sad that seasoned "expert" members of the site are giving such advice. While it really didn't matter since OP had already applied anyway, it was still naive advice and getting someone's hopes up for nothing. Despite MF's insistence to the contrary, nobody there works for Chase and can say whether calling or not calling for a pending app makes any difference. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. But of course I get spazzed at when I point that out.

That's what happens when you take away the voice of reason. ;)

MF is more for entertainment purposes anymore. The personal finance forum on the site is alright, but the Credit Card forum(s) are like watching a train wreck. You're horrified but you can't look away.

I find the personal finance subreddit is a better place to go. Yes, it is basically a giant circlejerk most of the time, but the intentions are in the right place. MF is often a circlejerk to see who can take the biggest risks without filing for BK.

When I feel shit I often visit MF's "relationships" forum. I get a good kick out of the stuff on there. Not just the horrible stories people attempt to justify, but some of the responses are pure gold.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k
