What's important to me is getting great rewards for either travel, hotel, or cashback, and having a card I can use long term with no annual fee. No foreigns and a nice signup bonus would be sweet, but I'm willing to compensate those for a good card.

I've been considering what you said, and here's 3 more cards I found:

- Citi Double Cash
- Amex EveryDay
- Fidelity Investment Rewards American Express

Double Cash or the Fidelity Amex would be fine. It sounds like you don't spend or fly enough to make good use of MRs, so Amex Blue Cash Everyday might be better than Amex EveryDay.

MRs are tricky to redeem well, generally requiring someone to book flights through the frequent flyer programs of foreign airlines. MRs are a great way to save on expensive flights, but doing so takes a lot of research and planning that may not make sense for you.

So the reason I'm even trying to open another cc is to build my credit further, and try to take things to the next level. I managed to clean my credit 2 years ago, I got the Freedom, and I've been paying it for the last 2 years in great standing. So I'm thinking adding another cc, and repeat will further build my portfolio.

But I want to make sure its a smart move. Not to just open it just to be opening it, but a card I could charge things on and take some advantage on.

Here's my strategy:

Citi Double Cash = Just use along with the freedom get 2% CB

Fidelity = Take the 2%, and put it in a mutual funds.

Blue Cash Everyday = Take the $150 signup bonus, take advantage of the grocery store, gas, etc along with the freedom cb. I like the fact it has extended warranty on items, but i'm curious how that comes in the play (e.g. I buy a tv on black friday, and it blows out in 2 years, or I buy music gear, and it blows out by year 3)?

At your spending level, 2% cash back with no signup bonus isn't going to be very lucrative. I'd go for something with no AF and a $150-$200+ signup bonus.
