Does anyone use Visa Signature's benefits?

Postby Whatamuji » Sat Sep 26, 2015 3:29 am

Sure it's nice to have Signature underneath the Visa logo on your credit card but does or has anyone used their services since the advent of high speed internet?

Nope, can't say that I have, which is why I think people chasing after it and salivating over Sig or WEMC are definitely wasting their time.

I've seen..."Does DC come in WEMC if my limit is 1k?"

I mean, who cares? You are so unlikely to use the benefits, and with that limit, you are probably not going to use it as a travel card overseas (where some of the benefits MAY possibly be used). In short, not worth caring about.

To be honest I didn't know Visa Signature or World Mastercard were even things until a few months ago when I started hanging out on credit forums, lol. Turns out I have them on a couple of my cards....Woohoo?

Nope, definitely haven't directly used the benefits before. Although, I have thought perhaps I've indirectly benefited. As I understand it these cards charge higher merchant fees than traditional Visa/Mastercards, which I assume is why the lenders are able to offer higher rewards. I know a lot of rewards cards aren't Sig/World, but I thought perhaps the extra swipe revenue helped the issuers offer higher rewards. I absolutely may be wrong about that, and would love clarification if anyone has extra insight.

I have not used the services or the benefits.

People vary. Some like relying on concierge services and so on. If I had to guess it's probably more likely that the older demographics would still find such services useful.

I've suspected that. If I had R-C or Amex Platinum, I'd have fairly high expectations about what they could accomplish. But I wouldn't expect very much from a concierge service that has no big AF to help fund it.*

From VS and WMC concierge I'd expect nothing more than some web browsing and a phone call or two with no special access or leverage. I don't expect they can arrange or find out anything I can't do as quickly with my phone.

*Unless the service is exclusive in some way other than having an AF. An example would be Discover's premium card, with no AF but available only by invitation after a history of heavy spending. In that case, the money comes from the large processing fees.
