Freedom is still a great card. It does have a distinct advantage of being a Visa as opposed to a Discover.

Though that double cash back is very nice right now.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

I know this fact is frequently repeated, but I've run into zero situations where I've wanted to use my Discover and couldn't because it was not accepted.

Now, if you are frequently in small towns or mom-and-pop shops, sure, it probably won't be. But day to day, at major merchants? It's not a problem.

I could probably count on one hand the number of times it happened to me. The rewards more than make up for that to me. Discover's categories are more broad (and especially looked like it at the time I applied). That was the biggest reason I applied for the It instead of the Freedom.
