September 2015 Garden Club/Cult

Postby CarefulBuilder14 » Mon Aug 31, 2015 9:47 pm

73 minutes until September. Close enough.

No apps planned. Hyatt is looking more tempting as a 2016 card. I'm curious about the 2016 Schwab Amex cards, but the details haven't been released yet.
Keeping indefinitely: IHG, SchwabPlat, CSP, Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE, Hyatt
May close or PC: Prestige, Arrival, BrooksBros
AA Platinum converting into Costco

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech
Letting new accounts cool off since May

Would be surprised if they are anything more than 1.5 or 2%. In short, probably nothing super exciting (if one has a 2% card already, if not great!). But I hope I'm wrong

I'd be disappointed if it was just 2%, but you're right that it may be just that. My hopes are for something akin to BofA Preferred Rewards or Citi Gold - but for Schwab customers instead.

But Fidelity is a flat rate card, and Schwab's old card was one, too. I don't know how the financial arrangements on a complex card would work when Amex paid the rewards but Schwab held the assets.

No apps planned for me this month either, but then I generally find it pretty easy to stay in the garden. The card I will be watching for news on is the upcoming Citi Costco and whether Amex sells the TE portfolio to Citi.

According to a Costco cashier today, word around the company is that the Citi Costco Visa should have better rewards than TE.

How accurate said "word around the company" is, I don't know.

I hope it's accurate, heh. I do have to admit that Citi has stepped up its game lately, and I hope that carries over to its Costco product.

No apps this month (this time I'm for real, I promise). Busy paying off the balance on my BoA card and the Hilton card along with my relatively recent laptop purchase. Looking forward to eventually getting my hands on the IHG rewards card.
Kohls: $300, Discover IT: $1.8k, Capital One Quicksilver: $2k, Amazon Store Card: $2.2k, BoA Cash Rewards: 1k, Chase Freedom: 3.2k, AMEX HHonors 3k

No apps in the near future. I did get my first Discover mailer, which was exciting. But it gave an APR range so I know it means nothing. I'd like a Discover at some point but I don't have a need for another card right now.

I'll have to add a student loan this month of about 9k.

I finally got my wife on my CSP as an AU, even though I missed the 5k bonus points by like 3 weeks. She has impeccable timing.

My goal this month is to get util under 30% (currently at 36%). We're going to be moving in December and the new place will pull our credit report and base our security deposit on our scores. If we have over a 740 it is $300. Right now my wife is at a 747 and I'm at 697. I want to be over 700 and hope she can stay above 740.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

I still have not checked whether my SPG was approved or not. I am well on the way through my PT spend though. :)
