Vermonster: Amex usually starts reporting much sooner. How are you monitoring your reports?
Hard to believe it's already August. I don't imagine I will be app'ing for any cards this month as I'm pretty happy with what I've got. I'm really beginning to dislike the Discover IT double cashback promo going on simply because I want my bonus cashback now and not at the end of the 12th billing cycle. I'm impatient that way
It's a bit odd, but a lot of people are very concerned about the timing of when rewards post. Barclaycard and (I think) Capital One make rewards available once a transaction posts. Amex takes about 35 days after a statement closes to make MRs available - so potentially two months after an early-in-the-statement transaction posts.
If you want to transfer your points to travel programs and book ASAP, then timing absolutely matters. If it's just cash/ordinary gift cards, I'm perfectly happy to wait.
How much are you using Discover? It's your highest-earning card for off-category stuff and Amazon, so I'd expect you'd be using it heavily - even with the wait for the extra rewards. I guess your two Amazon cards will stay in the sock drawer, with Freedom's Q4 Amazon category?
