I was doing so good in the garden until I decided to app for the Chase Freedom. I got it with an okay CL ($1200). But I also got an auto CLI from Synchrony on my Amazon store card

I'd be interested in getting a Gardening Contest up and going for August. Not sure what we can do besides copying the thread on MF.

If we can get a total of at least 6 people to participate:

The top third of survivors, or anyone who makes it through the end of 2015 (about five months), could include "I won the garden!" (or something like that) in their signatures.

The bottom third have to app for something from Comenity or Capital One. No freezing reports.
OR
Get an ugly/awkward card design on an existing account and use it as your everyday card for three months. I'd go with the pink monogrammed Discover.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

How about for the reward we put as a sig "I didn't eat the apple". An homage to the Garden of Eden. Or is that too cliche? The punishment works for me. :ppp

What happens if there is no top 3rd?

If the number of participants is not neatly divisible by 3, then people on the boundaries between thirds would move up.

I am in the process of freezing my credit files one by one (surprisingly I'm stingy even with the mere 10 each site) and so I don't do it all at once--kinda just freeze one, check email, etc, go back and bite another one

Get email offers from amex but this time it's 50k for 1k spend. Not bad. Decided to apply for it before finish freezing my credit and figured if they pulled the one I already froze than whatever and if they don't then whatever.

Got approved I guess because they pulled the one that isn't frozen yet (speaking of)

But now I kind of regret it because I have never had one with an annual fee. First year is 0 though so I might cancel it.

Probably.

Nice. Experian i'm sure. :p

My files have been frozen for some time now and I am 4mos away from last app. I may have to unfreeze soon though for a Pre-approval and Mtg app with NFCU.

thanks (: pretty excited about the boost because I don't want to spend much (just got through some expenses) otherwise I would have skipped it. 334$ spend a month is easily done what with my bills and meal swipes.

If you do the preapprovals with different lenders within a fourteen day span the bureaus should suppress them into one inquiry by only taking the first one into account and ignoring the rest (fico) within that 14 day span

Congratulations on pending home purchase & best of luck to you, a family member just brought in the city and it was a painful process in terms of finding the right house and than winning the bidding war.

I also was lagging with the freeze because they charge you $ to unfreeze and of course to refreeze it again..
