Best / Worst Credit Card Website

Postby Whatamuji » Thu Jun 18, 2015 3:55 am

I love how easy it is to use the Discover website but have noticed that a lot of the other sites aren't so great with website design. Which are in yalls opinion the best and worst card websites in both functionality and aesthetics?
Kohls: $300, Discover IT: $1.8k, Capital One Quicksilver: $2k, Amazon Store Card: $2.2k, Chase Freedom Unlimited: 3.2k, AMEX HHonors 5k

When I had a Cash +, the US Bank site was the worst. It looked like something that would have been state of the art around 1999.

I preferred the old Amex site to the new one. Discover is good, Citi is good, BofA is ok, Cap One is ok, anything Sync Bank is subpar. FNBO is good to ok, Barclays is reasonably good, but to me clearly the top ones are Discover, Citi and Amex, probably in that order again I preferred the old Amex site mainly because your offers were a hell of a lot easier to see and use scrolling down than across 4 at a time. I don't care at all for that design change.

The site for the BofA Fidelity Amex was about on the level of subpar as anything Sync does (and I've seen several Sync sites and every one of them looks like something that college interns threw together over a summer). Associated Bank's old site was at best ok; they just rolled out a new site but I really haven't checked it out yet.

Just my opinions.

Chase is alright, it could be better. Make it so I don't have to click to another page to see all my rewards. Beyond that it's fine.
Wallet: Chase Freedom, Discover IT

Chase seems a bit lacking as far as spending analysis.

Amex, Discover, and Barclaycard are great.

Synchrony Brooks Bros is pretty simple, but doesn't need to be complicated. I don't think the website will change when it becomes a Citi card.
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG, Prestige (retention)
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt
SD with activity alerts, might close: Arrival

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech, BofA Travel PH, Aviator Red

In the account overview you can click "show rewards" and it will display current points without going to a new page.

Out of Citi, Amex, and Chase I find Amex the best followed by Chase, and Citi in a distant 3rd.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

From my experiences I'd rate best to worst: Discover, Capital One, BoA, Chase, SyncBank.

In my opinion AMEX and Discover have great sites. Chase is ok but it seems like they're always doing maintenance. Also sometimes the Chase site loads the mobile version on my desktop computer which is really annoying. Citi is my least used card and also my least used website, not a fan of the Citi site.
American Express Platinum Card
American Express TrueEarnings Card from Costco
Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card
Chase Sapphire Preferred World MasterCard
Discover It

I'm going to chime in as someone who uses the apps more than the websites - Discover HANDS DOWN has the best app. I was even able to chat with a rep on the app the other night when I wanted to confirm the double cash back had taken effect once my cycle restarted. I honestly think you can do most, if not all, of what you can do on the desktop page with the Discover app.

I hate amex and everything about them. Website. App. Cards. Policies. Their name. The air they breathe. You get the idea.

The Chase app isn't too bad, but, I rarely use it after rage closing all but 1 card with them (a Slate I have a balance on at 0%).

The BoA app is "meh" at best. Not horrible, but not as user friendly as the Discover app.

Actually I hate the Chase app on the ipad/iphone. I had an amazing app on my Windows Phone and they discontinued it. Apparently they are going to make a Win 10 app, I just hope it is nothing like the ipad/iphone app.
