The signature or lack thereof was determined at initial approval. A 500 limit gets you a regular Visa. Moving limits after the fact is "too late" and won't change it. The regular Visa account has been made.

It's not really a reason to ditch a company IMO but do what's best for you. Anecdotally Chase allows upgrades to Signature after a year.

It can be upconverted after 13mos.

I've heard of that for Freedom - but are you sure it's also the case for Amazon?

Freedom's terms clearly say the card may be either Platinum or Signature, but Amazon's terms don't as far as I can find. I wouldn't extrapolate from Freedom to other Chase Visa cards.

Has anyone actually encountered an Amazon Visa Signature?

I've looked over the Chase Cardmember Agreement and have found nothing suggesting that the Amazon Rewards VIsa card comes in a "Signature" version nor have I seen ever a Visa "Signature" version.
Kohls: $300, Discover IT: $1.8k, Capital One Quicksilver: $2k, Amazon Store Card: $2.2k, BoA Cash Rewards: 1k, Chase Freedom: 3.2k, AMEX HHonors 3k

True, I haven't necessarily heard it in a Signature version. If it's really important to OP they may just need a different card. (or wait the 13 months and see about upgrading since even if it is available you can't for 13 months).

I guess other people go to movie theaters a lot more than I do...

No one has any guidance on the Amazon $10 / Chase UR situation (see previous page)?

I Googled it and someone claims they got a Signature. So it must be due to the 500 limit it started with that Chase would not make it a Signature even though it now has a 23.5k limit which is more than sufficient in terms of limit.

That just means I'll keep the BofA card until this is able to be converted. That card truly is not bad I really ought to make more use of it. I currently do not. Maybe it gives BofA an "in". You'd think Chase could have converted it - it's not like the annual fee is any higher so I just don't buy that it's about the "Card" act because the fee is the same either way. That line is getting almost as tired as if they said they couldn't do it to help fight the war on terror and money laundering and keep this great nation safe. Sounds ridiculous but it's about as relevant.

And if you read it on the internet, it has to be true, right?

Then it seems odd for the Chase website to not explicitly mention it, like they do for Freedom.

I'm not sure why anyone would bother to lie about that. What do they get out of lying?

Heck I still remember some guy, I can't remember who but it was on this board, insisted I was lying about Amex having a blacklist, even though I've personally been on it. I still for the life of me can't imagine why someone would think that's an urban myth. What do they REALLY seriously believe that if you've burned a lender they don't keep track of that and automatically deny people who did it for a time, and instead just approve them to go do it again? Christ how naïve/idiotic is that.

Someone doesn't have to be an intentional liar - just a moron with no idea of what Visa Signature actually is. Someone could think "Signature" means a card where you sign the receipt after a transaction.

I've read a lot of CC falsehoods before on here and MF, and unfortunately have believed some of it and even passed it along.
