June 2015 Garden Club/Cult

Postby CarefulBuilder14 » Mon Jun 01, 2015 8:16 am

I added EDP in April and Arrival in May. I don’t have plans to get anything in particular right now, but I might go for a good travel bonus or a “real” PIN travel card after my debacle with Barclaycard.
Wallet: Prestige CSP SchwabPlat Freedom It Hyatt SallieMae AAPlat
SD: Arrival BrooksBros BCE ED IHG
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

May was supposed to be a garden month. but that all changed when my wife started seriously looking at houses. Lat time she was seriously looking at anything we got a dog within a few months. I know we can't even begin to consider a house until we pay off more of these car and student loans, but I want to start the planning early. So the BCP and DC are there to get some SP clis over the next year and a bit to help our credit score.

The only card that could pull me out of the garden right now is a Discover It. Again for the SP cli, but also because I won't want to decide later that I would like it and ruin my 1 year of no apping before the mortgage talks.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

Nothing major really going on. Was pretty close to getting a CLI on my BoA card and it seems really promising that in due time, I'll get something substantial on there.

I agree with you, the only thing I am considering as well is the Discover it. Everything else, I can wait. I really like the 18 month 0% apr, can wait.

From what I have seen on MF, you can't get a second SM anymore.

It's hit and miss. Some people get them some don't. I don't think it is officially allowed but some people have managed to get one.

Nothing really here. Feeling the lack of luv from Sync. They liked me a lot more with a thin file as I got CLIs back then and now, I've had my Lowe's card since Sept of 2014, spend a LOT on it, have a 0 balance and no luv - I go to request it, and I'm told i'm not eligible. I can only assume they do NOT like when you actually take advantage of 0% promotions, use them and pay them before interest is due. Yeah I know the name of the game is to suck you into not paying it off so they can nail you for 25% retroactive interest, but I just don't want to play that game, sorry. So i've probably offended them, but I can live with that.

If I get no luv from them, I may just close both accounts (Lowes and Amazon Prime) and get the Chase Amazon card and be done with it.

Otherwise nothing really. As far as fee cards I plan to downgrade my Hilton card to the no fee version, keep CSP and pay the fee, and close the Arrival + before the annual fee is due. I've already paid the EDP fee for this year, but next year I may downgrade that to the no fee card as well. I'm finding I don't travel and so travel cards with fees don't make that much sense, and while the EDP would make sense if I used it right, I just give the swipes to who I want regardless of rewards, BUT with what I spend on Amazon I really want to maximize rewards there, just not sure I want to do that with Sync. Might be time to kick them to the curb.
