Well, I've been gardening for six days because I wanted to. Now I pretty much need to garden for the next month or two.

Unless I find some magical fix, I'll be returning the Costco.com computer I earned my Arrival bonus with. I'm going to do more research before I buy a replacement. My old one is slow, but it's still adequate for now and easy to use.

I've also got IHG arriving soon in the mail, so have minimum spend there. It's only $2k total, but it's actually the first time I've had to meet minimum spending on two different cards simultaneously. I also want to try my best to take advantage of Vermonster's better bonus offer before it vanishes.

My card use to meet minimum spend will probably look like:

EDP: Costco warehouse and groceries.
Freedom: Dining through the end of the month.
Everything else: Arrival first, then IHG.
Wallet: Prestige CSP SchwabPlat Freedom It Hyatt SallieMae AAPlat
SD: Arrival BrooksBros BCE ED IHG
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

Not too sure how you are with computers CarefulBuilder, but a re-format of windows might help your slow speeds. It would be cheaper to do that then buy a new computer.

So I have a question for those of you with a whole lot more experience than me in these matters. I helped my wife apply for a Barclays rewards card the other day. She was denied. We called the recon line together and low and behold she was approved for the Arrival Plus World elite MC with a starting CL of 5k. That was great but what was odd was that I noticed an inquiry on my bureau and then received an email from Barclays stating that I also had been approved for the Barclays reward card with a $1500 CL. I was shocked as I already have that card with a 5k limit. Should I just keep the second card or can I call the Recon line back and ask to transfer that approval to the Ring or Arrivals Plus card. ?

I assume they already had it on file due to my current open acct with them. When my wife applied for her card she added me as an authorized user so they may have got it that way. Funny thing is I never mentioned to the rep anything about wanting another CC.

I've done that before, but it doesn't bring it back to 100% of it's original state. I dislike the small screen, but the headache from the new one is a lot worse.

The old one is a $500-ish Dell laptop from Costco. It's been pretty good, so this recent mess isn't enough to drive me away from Costco electronics. I say that assuming the return of the new one goes smoothly.

I'm thinking I'll probably pay off the Wal-Mart card this month or next and then dump it. I mainly shop there for groceries (and entertainment purposes, but that's another story) and I can get better deals even on the Freedom when they're not in the Groceries category (1% back is better than none), and I want to redirect my spending to the Freedom (once it's paid off) to get in with the CSP.
Current Cards: Chase Freedom, Discover IT
Future: TBD

And maybe get a freebie Freedom CLI? :lift:

Chase certainly does give automatic or soft-pull CLIs, but they can often take a few years. Keep your expectations modest.

Assuming you won't be paying any fees for the Wal-Mart CC once you've paid it off, I wouldn't close it. Your history seems a bit short and I think you'll benefit from creditors seeing multiple open accounts. Perhaps simplicity should be a lower priority for now.

Just put a small transaction on it maybe once every 6 months and pay it off in full.
