What views on credit cards have people had that have changed over time?

I used to hate the idea of annual fees, complicated travel points, weird offers you have to sign up for in advance, and weird rules to get special rewards. I was all about having a bunch of cash-back cards, yet I recently got an EDP.

I've said at times that I would never want a card with Citi due to bad customer service, yet I've contemplated the Prestige.
Keeping indefinitely: IHG, SchwabPlat, CSP, Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE, Hyatt
May close or PC: Prestige, Arrival, BrooksBros
AA Platinum converting into Costco

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech
Letting new accounts cool off since May

I swore I'd never get a third-party (i.e., "fake") Amex or another Citi card, yet my 2 most recent approvals were the Fidelity Amex and the Double Cash. Still sticking to cashback cards, though.
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

You don't find it redundant to have both? There aren't many places that take one but not the other. The ones that come to mind are Costco (for now), Sam's Club, and some insurance companies.

One requires PIF to get the other half of CB.

Wouldn't that be RIF - Report In Full? And when they give low credit limits on the card, it seems like it could be a bigger headache than getting 30 swipes (EDP) or tracking a $250 grocery cap (SM). A 2% cash card doesn't seem like it should give headaches.

Maybe my preference to avoid Citi will last a while longer. I could go for a travel bonus or two, but wouldn't want one longer-term.

Yeah, I used to laugh at the people on fico who bragged about their fake amex's and would talk about "backdating". I wonder how many nuisance calls centurion bank gets from people making complaints or requests with third party cards. ( ie. "My Dillard's Amex card was just declined!") Of course, the Bangledeshi csr's Amex hires probably have no idea what a third party Amex card is and it probably takes them an hour to figure out that they can't help which makes the customer even madder. I;m really surprused Amex does so well in JD Powers surveys.
In my Wallet:
  • Amex PRG NPSL[3-14, bd 91]
  • Sallie Mae MC $8000[1-14]
  • Chase Freedom $4700[1-14]
  • Discover It $2750[8-13]
  • BoA UCF Alumni Cash Rewards $5000 [3-15]
Sometimes in my Wallet:
  • GM BuyPower WEMC $5000[9-14]
  • Wells Fargo Propel 365 Amex $7000[4-14]
  • Barclaycard Arrival WEMC $7000[3-14]
  • BoA Better Balance $3000[2-15]
In my sockdrawer: Amex BCE $1000[10-13, bd 91], OCCU Duck $10000 [11-13], The Sportsman's Guide Visa $8000[8-14], Chase Slate $4000 [9-14]Delta Gold Amex $2000 [2-15 bd 91], Diners Club MC $20000 [10-14] Commerce Bank Visa $2000 [3-15] Citi Double Cash $1000 [3-15]
Total CL: $90450

Yeah, the old SCT... like the guys who get a Victoria Secret card via the shopping cart trick. I always wanted to post "Congrats! Happy crossdressing" but I'm sure 09 would've banned me.

I stay away from SCT Approval threads. I wouldn't be able to hold back...

Next best thing... "Approved for QS1 and CreditOne"

I only use the Fidelity Amex for Serve loads and purchases at Costco over $50. I haven't used DC much at all.
