You guys are being little tough on Nixon today. From the outside he just has a lot passion for credit cards in general. I say if he has something to add to a conversation not a problem.

BoA Better Balance $12,000
Amex Every Day $24,000
Discover It $17,000
NFCU Platinum Visa $25,200
Barclay Arrival WMC $10,000
Cap One QuickSilver WMC $6,200
WF Cash back Visa Sig $11,000

This got pretty far off topic with the Nixon-bashing today. Papamode seems to be infatuated with Nixon, considering almost every post recently has been about or directed at him. Maybe take it to PMs if needed. There are about 4 pages in this thread devoted to anything BUT gardening.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

Since when has this thread ever been about serious gardening? Lol.

In any case..... Since my NFCU decline for a second card last month ive just been in a holding pattern. And then I had a pesky zombie collection pop up on EX/EQ....

This item sealed my fate on anything that isn't a TU puller.

Ok, honestly, there's a lot of Nixon-bashing going on in this thread. The surprising factor is, that it's all about what he does (or does not) in MF, and I did not come across such strong messages on MF. Is this thread supposed to be an off-the-field conversation thread for MF?

It's true that some of us, Nixon included, end up spending a lot of time on forums. There should be a level of moderation there; but at the same time, there's not much point in abusing a fellow-user. Maybe we need to extend FSR here? :ppp

And Nixon is not the only person talking / hinting about MS. Many users, including super contributors do that, and it's not that they don't frequent the forums on MF. They're also there on FT and other places, but they haven't shunned MF.

To me, each forum serves its purpose. FT to me is either miles, miles, miles, or MS, MS, MS, and understandably serves people with fantastic credit. I don't consider myself to fit in that category. CB has a lot of repair advice (and inside banter, good for them!) - at least to me. This board serves as a general board + MF-rant and then there's MF, a general purpose board with its backers and their motives.

I also disagree with some of the holier-than-thou folks at MF; it's probably because I don't do it in a few thousand posts like Nixon does and therefore nobody banned me yet. That said, MF has some genuine good advice, and a good deal of entertainment every week or so, why not take part in that?

That said, it'll be good for Nixon to (a) cut down on his sarcasm - MF folks are like Sheldon Cooper, smart but not sarcasm-friendly; and (b) cut down a bit on forum time in general (note: also to self, follow thy own advice).

Take a chill pill, everyone. It's Friday.

While Discover Miles and It both have no FTFs, Discover's acceptance is pretty limited internationally. I'd prioritize getting a Visa or MC as a travel card.

When I said I was ruling out Arrival+ past the first year, I meant I'd convert it to the no-AF version. The no-AF Arrival would still be good as a light-use, light-rewards Chip+PIN travel card for the long run. CSP would be my travel "heavy hitter". I just don't think (anymore) that the "+" version stands up to other cards.

Sallie Mae and PRG are good. Keeping your ED open will let you keep your MRs if you want to close PRG.

That is a good reason to go the Arrival route. Start with the Arrival+ for the introductory bonus, then downgrade to the Arrival to avoid AFs while keeping a Chip+PIN card with no FTF. I'll have to consider that, as well as a PRG if I ever get a targeted offer (I've been "invited to apply" before, but I may not be putting enough on my Amex for them to try to entice me with anything beyond the standard bonus).

AU on Barclay Sallie Mae - $10,000 (8/15)

It's a shame one can't apply for both and get both spend bonuses (Arrival and Plus)

Then roll Arrival+ into the Arrival.

I don't think anyone was intending to bash or attack Nixon. To be honest, I was just trying to offer him my honest advice. There is a difference between "passion" and "obsession". You can be passionate about credit cards (which we all obviously are to an extent) without letting it become an all-consuming obsession.

Statements like "only 108 hours until I can receive quick responses" are kind of indicative of addiction. As if his life support is cut off because he isn't able to be on a board with quick responses. It's just credit cards. Life will go on even if you don't have access to a forum.

Although I might have been harsh my suggestion was an attempt to help him. Go outside. See the birds and the trees and the sun. Enjoy some hobbies. You can have great credit and enjoy the benefits of rewards without letting it run your life. 75 posts a day is pretty excessive IMO. All that while working, maintaining a house, maintaining a marriage? Traveling? I'm not saying Nixon is a liar, but I do think that his priorities need to shift a bit. An internet forum about credit cards should NOT be a life priority. Can it be a hobby? Sure. But I think he's taking it too seriously as far as the amount of time devoted to it. There are other things in life. You won't die saying "I wish I had gotten one more bonus!"... that's my advice. Sorry if it was offensive. He's not the only MF person who I think could stand a break.

Aside from the "spend less time" tangent, I do think, Nixon, you need to cut down the sarcasm and "hidden" references to MS and bureau freezing. Whether one agrees with the concepts or not, they aren't to be discussed on MF and with your references (ice cream, art prints, "may only be a TU pull" with a wink indicating freezing bureaus), you often end up starting "debates" in threads, intentionally or not. The threads then spiral downward and get locked. I am not saying you are always the cause, but it happens frequently enough that you need to consider what you are posting before you post it, IMO.
