So how are you getting this Experian credit tracker? Do you pay for it or is it thru a CapOne card

I'm paying for it. I looked into the MyFico offerings and heard that they only do one pull of your reports, but update your score every time there is a change. I already get my reports weekly from Credit Karma for EQ and TU. I wanted a frequent way to check EX. It was $4.95 for the first month, $20 for each month after. The EX tracker pulls a new report every day you log in, or 2 times a month if you don't log in. I have heard if you call to cancel they generally offer you a big discount.

I've been in good shape this past year. My employer has a deal where they pull our credit once a year for us, no strings attached, and I am sitting at 777 (EQ) as of May 5. I have two inquiries, both in October 2014, when we were car shopping. I had one for April 2014, but it had fallen off. Part of me wants to look at a new card, but at the same time, I'm really satisfied with the lineup I have.
Arsenal:
Discover it [3/12, $2,500]
Amex BCE [5/13, $25,000, bd 9/12]
Chase Freedom [1/13, $5,500]
SunTrust Cash Rewards [4/14, $7,000]
Bank of America Travel Rewards [9/15, $6,000]

My Arrival is in the mail, according to an email from Barclaycard. It only took them 6 days to mail it, unlike 12 days for Sallie Mae.

I don't get why it takes them so long to mail out cards. Is it just to steer people towards rush delivery? My metal CSP came within about 48 hours, at no extra charge. You'd think Barclaycard could drop a piece of plastic into the snail mail within about 72 or 96 hours. Who needs 12 days (and that's 12 days after I called in to get through their security check)?

I suppose that could make Arrival+ one of the cards with a stricter signup bonus spending requirement. Arrival+ requires only $3k, but in an extreme case, slow delivery may give someone only a little over 2 months to meet it.

I remain happy that I got Arrival to add to travel convenience, and that I'm not trying to make it an everyday heavy-use card by getting the AF version.

While we are on the subject of NOT gardening

I apped for a BCP today and after fighting their system for about an hour I was approved for $6k. They didn't like that my employer had a number in the name. So I used a different employer name which I thought would trigger a review.

Then in the mail I got a Citi DC pre-qual letter. Normally I wouldn't care but this one is the first offer at 12.99% where as all the others, and online, are 22.99%. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this too.

Well, the Arrival was a mistake. It's already destined for the sock drawer. I've met the $1000 spending requirement (for 20k points), and now just need to incur some travel expenses to make use of the rewards.

I'll keep it active and use it lightly, for when it eventually gets a chip to become a real travel card.

I do like the simplicity of having three cards (EDP, Freedom, CSP) that suit my regular spending well. Discover and PRG have their occasional uses, too, as will Arrival (eventually).

I wouldn't miss Sallie Mae, Brooks Bros, or BCE if they got closed for inactivity. I do still plan to bring some of the BCE limit over.

My apologies if you've discussed this elsewhere (I haven't been able to be as active here lately), but do you have any plans for the PRG? I believe travel direct through Amex is the only cat maximized by PRG in your current lineup, and I can't imagine SBS and the occasional Amex Offer would be enough to justify keeping it indefinitely.

Edited to add: the ability to slap down a gold card has value to some, but you don't strike me as the type ;)

plus several store accounts of varying usefulness now

I'm not sure what the situation is with booking airfare through Amex travel. I haven't done it, but I do get 3x points on airfare booked directly with the airline. Travelocity-type websites would not qualify for a PRG bonus (though they would qualify for CSP as "travel").

I'm keeping PRG for now, under the following logic:

1. I will almost certainly be flying for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. If I wait to designate an airline for the $100 fee credit, I can buy my ticket, then pick that airline, and use the $100 credit in full for checked bags and food - especially if I travel with a companion. The air credit, and the fact that I can wait to pick the airline for the first year, is a big factor.

2. My PRG anniversary was in late May, so I think I qualify for the $175 AF, even though it won't post until later this month (the end of the 13th month).

3. Some of the offers are nice besides Small Business Saturday. $20 off $20+ at Samsclub.com, $5 off $5+ on iTunes and Google Play. I just checked and PRG had an offer for $50 off $200 or more at Brooks Bros online. EDP and BCE didn't have that one, and an offer like that can beat most BB card exclusive offers.

4. I do like it that it's shiny and has a high charging limit, but it also doesn't require travel notification. Several months ago, I flew a thousand miles to visit relatives. I forgot to put travel notifications on my cards. We went out to eat at a restaurant, and other people wanted to pay their share in cash. I put the cash in my wallet and put the whole thing on PRG. I was only getting the base 1x MR, but the transaction went through smoothly. I've had false alarm fraud alerts on Discover and CSP, and wouldn't want the hassle of needing to use a different card. People in my family often talk about money and know how others are doing, so it's not like people would think I had bad credit. It's still an inconvenience, though, and would be a reputation problem around people with whom I wasn't so close.

5. I'm also considering a PC to Platinum. By keeping PRG alive, I can save myself from an inquiry and a new account. At least, as long as I can break even with PRG, I figure I'll keep it.

6. I did get regular AAA, so roadside assistance is no longer a PRG consideration for me.

*7. I also have the sneaking suspicion that Amex will nerf ShopRunner as a perk, and reserve it for only some cards.

Maybe I will close it someday, but for now it makes sense to keep it. It's definitely not an everyday purchase card, though.

I knew you'd have your reasons, I was just curious as to what they are. I also wouldn't be surprised at all to see them nerf ShopRunner.

Do you get different Amex Offers for your different cards? I understand all offers don't go out to all cards, but didn't know the extent to which they differed. Do you notice a difference in the offers you get on PRG vs. BCE vs. EDP?

I'm still open to a Platinum if I get a nice targeted introductory bonus, but I'm also not holding my breath on that. If it did happen I don't see myself keeping the card long-term anyway.
