Re-design update: Reporting issues (4 p.m. update)

Postby CreditCardGuru » Thu Apr 23, 2015 5:07 am

Hi everyone,

As we continue to clean up the various issues that have cropped up in the re-design this morning, I just wanted to say thanks to those who have already taken the time to test the new version -- and brought problems to our attention. If you come across any issues, please send them as private messages to the CreditCardGuru account (we'll notice them right away there and can add them to our list of things to fix).

Some issues that have already been brought up include:

1) Some users aren't able to log in, while others are. The reason is that some passwords don't meet the criteria of the new software and therefore weren't transferred over correctly. We're really sorry for this inconvenience. If you were having trouble logging in before, please try again. If your password was one of the ones with issues, you will be prompted on the next screen to re-set your password.

2) Signatures for some users not showing up on some threads. Our new software allows you to determine when your signature appears. You can either attach your signature to each post by clicking the "attach signature" box before hitting "submit." OR you can set your signature to display on all your uposts by default. To do so, access the user control panel. Select "Edit posting defaults" and fill in the circle by "attach my signature by default."

3) Various styling/formatting/bbcode issues in signatures, user names and posts. Still working on it.

4) Some users are getting a re-direct/error page when they try to log in. This seems to be the case when you log in from creditcardforum.com/forum. Just hit refresh, and you should be good to go. We're working on fixing this.

Thanks again so much for your patience.

When I tried to login today, it gave me some redirect error.

Then I just clicked a random post and it showed I was logged in. Don't know what happened.

Most functions appear to work pretty smoothly, just a few small glitches or things potentially can be changed:

1. The navigation of "Home" should link to http://creditcardforum.com/forum/ instead of http://creditcardforum.com/ ? Since this is supposed to navigate to the forum homepage.
Image

2. User control panel still has a little bit things not set up yet.
UCP - Board Preferences - Edit Global Settings, there is no choice in timezone. Also, POPUP_ON_PM and BOARD_DST are supposed to have description? (looks like showing a popup window when private message comes, and apply Daylight Savings Time)
Image

3. User Vattené has the username showing incorrectly.

I did have to reset my password to be able to log in the first time after conversion, and it looks like some, if not all, users may have to experience this as well.
Citi Forward Visa $5000 10/2012 | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $8000 2/2014 | Discover it $7000 5/2014
Chase Freedom Visa Signature $7000 6/2014 | Citi ThankYou Premier Visa Signature $5000 1/2015

Lobbythis, JamesMS and PlyrStar93,

Thank you so much for your feedback. It's been very useful to us, and I've added all the issues you brought up to our queue of fixes.

In addition, I have updated my original post up top with some additional instructions and details (some of which were gleaned from your feedback).

It's been so encouraging for us today to see members testing things out and helping us with some of the heavy lifting.

Thanks, PlyrStar93, for having my back. Not sure if your pointing that out caused someone to look into my account or something, but I have been locked out until today.

I tried following the directions to reset my password. I was able to get the New Password Activation email sent when entering in my user name as it is now displaying - Vattené - but after following the link it kept taking me around in circles and giving me the message about the password not translating over. Not knowing what else to do and thinking the accent in my name was causing the trouble, I was just about to send an email via the Contact a Board Administrator form, but I tested it again today and it worked!

Kudos to CreditCardGuru and anyone else working behind the scenes. I like the more modern, sleek redesign, and I'm sure I have no idea how much work has gone into the transition. If it is not possible to restore my user name to "Vattené" is there any way to just make it "Vattene?"

We will try to get these latest issues with the SQL error and user name formatting addressed ASAP, but it will probably require our tech team's help on Monday. Thanks for everyone's patience. The new site design was a major effort involving a lot people. Even though it was a fairly clean transition to a new platform we did encounter some bugs, but hopefully we will get all the issues cleaned up by early next week.

I would like to be able to go to the last page of a thread without having to jump into it first and then keep hitting the next button or the last page number. Is this possible?
