What is the COOLEST credit card that you have?

Postby solomon » Mon Mar 09, 2015 2:18 pm

I worked at a restaurant and I've seen customers ranging from:

Visa Black Card to AMEX Platinums and above... but I only have a humble Sam's Club (Sam's Savings) Mastercard that has no annual fee.

I have gone out to eat with friends and had split the bill into separate checks and the girls look at what kind of cards that everyone has...

Their cards are so much cooler because it's made out of titanium metal. Mine, however, is just made of cheap plastic but it is free.

There are even cooler cards out there like luxury cards that are made of 23K gold or have diamonds in them...

Coolest Credit Cards:
1. Chase Palladium - Made of 23K Gold
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palladium_Card

2. AMEX Centurion - Made of anodized titanium coating
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centurion_Card

3. Visa Infinite Sberbank-Kazakhstan - "Made of pure gold, 26 diamonds and a mother of pearl"
www.huffingtonpost.com/.../...-card_n_2056535.html
4. GK Power: Royale MasterCard - Studded with 333 diamonds

My question is: What is the coolest card that you have or have ever encountered in real life?

The coolest card I own, is the Marriott Premier Visa Signature Card. This too is made of metal, and it is black. I get compliments on the card all the time. Besides me loving Marriott, the card does look quite good in my opinion. It may not be as fancy as some of the linked above, but I like this card, I thinks its pretty cool.

Chase Marriott Rewards Visa Signature (Daily Purchase): 13.4K

My coolest-looking one is probably PRG. I've not yet gone for any of the more exotic Discover designs.

The only card I've ever gotten comments on (other than "we don't take Amex") is Sallie Mae, actually. A humble plastic Platinum MC with an ugly purple-blue design probably just gets comments just because it's uncommon in the general population. Twice from grocery cashiers, and once from a person I was shopping with.

All those times, of course, I did take the opportunity the briefly explain the card's perks.

No one had ever said anything about the CSP's weight or design.
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

Do you get 5% back on gas from Sallie Mae MC?

Dude, damnit, I just got approved for Sam's Club MC, but redeeming is a pain.

I get 5% back on gas at 'regular' gas stations. There is a $250 cap for the 5% on gas but I've never gotten anywhere close to it.

I don't know how gas at a Sam's Club would be treated. It might be coded as a warehouse purchase, and not qualify for the 5%. It would probably get the 1% non-bonus rate.

And redeeming for a statement credit is pretty easy with Sallie Mae. I've never tried any of the alternative redemption methods, but it's all cash, however you take it. Strictly 1 cent-per-point in value.

The coolest card to have is the one that earns you the most rewards at the lowest cost. That's it. Nothing else matters. I don't care if girls look at someone's card. Don't let that lull you into getting a fancy card just because it looks nice. Your credit card is not jewelry. Make it serve a cool purpose and it's a cool card. :-)

I backhand b*tches all day with my Credit One.

If you're acquiring cards just to impress girls, you're doing it wrong. Besides, you could throw wads of $1 bills at most people and they'd think you're a baller. People are pretty stupid.

You didn't answer the question. What is the coolest card you have or have come across in real life?

A 23K gold credit card is worth at least something since an ounce of .999 fine Gold is worth $1215 USD.

A $1 bill USD is worth $ 1 in the United States... .65 pounds in Britain.

They're just tools to me. Neither "cool" nor "uncool".
