I've only been rejected for the Simply Cash, which i applied for after getting approved for 3 cards the month before. I won't be submitting any new apps until this summer (at the earliest). I want the biz card so that I can separate funds. I don't know if it was a HP or not since I already have a card with AMEX and it was a denial.

I would be curious to know if it was an HP or not for the data point. I'm wondering if the Amex SP policy applies across different categories of accounts (personal vs business). This doesn't affect me directly but would be good to know for others I'm sure.

As to pursuing a CLI with chase, if you were denied for credit because of too many inquiries then that HP from chase for the CLI won't help you much. Just a thought.
Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite MasterCard

It's been my experience that Credit Unions tend to give good CLI's on soft pulls. For commercial banks I can't say. I've had this Chase Freedom for years and never used it until recently and the credit line has never changed. Just got approved for the Citi so I'll have to wait and see how generous they are as the time goes on.
In Wallet:
SM Credit Union Platinum Visa 15K (opened 2004)
Citi Double Cash MasterCard 6.6K (opened 2015)
Chase Freedom Visa 5K (2009) (morphed from Providian/Wa Mu)

I may go the credit union route instead. Thanks for the tip.
Capital One secured opened May 2012 -- $1401 ($1200 of my own money to increase limit) I will be closing this as soon as I qualify for an AMEX Simply Cash business card (hopefully this summer).
Amex PRG opened Nov 2014 -- No preset spending limit
Chase Freedom Nov 2014 -- $4000
Bank of America Cash Rewards Nov 2014 -- $2500

You're right, I shouldn't even be considering those offers. Guess I'm just trying to rush the process. After years of being credit unworthy, these offers can be somewhat intoxicating.
I'm going to stay in the garden until this summer & reapply for the AMEX Simply Cash.

Thank you

Opting out will solve that. I don't get offers after doing so, I'm still applying for what I want later, but it won't be based off any mail offers that may or may not be rock solid approvals.
Everyday use: Capital One QuicksilverOne

I don't find the offers I get in the mail tempting - but more because they're just totally uncompetitive offers to begin with. I had a great 50k MR PRG offer (which I took), but apart from that it's ads for low/no rewards CO and Citi cards.
