In a nutshell. I noticed that for a while via the Credit Pulls Database about them giving out higher limits on the Venture than their other cards.

Yup. There's always some card that gets everyone over at MF riled up and apping by the storm. Same thing with Diners Club. I think CapOne will continue to give out big limits on these cards for a while though.

It all started with someone getting a 50k limit on their Venture card. I don't think many people cared that much about the card until that happened.

It could be an interesting experiment to find some really obscure credit union with semi-open membership, then talk on MF about how wonderful it is. Then sit back and watch the stampede...lots of people applying...lots of people getting approved...the credit union's tiny staff being overwhelmed with applications and getting nervous about the credit quality...and most of the accounts being closed before long.

After my rant about annoying PMs on here, I actually did get some helpful PMs there about the Brooks Bros and LL Bean cards. It started when I revived a 2-month old thread about BB which was just filled with bad info before I joined in. So there is some good information there - there's just a lot of inaccurate information and bad advice floating around without people shooting it down as quickly/reliably as they do on here.

I completely agree. That's why I still give that place a lot of credit for helping me get started but the forum does have its flaws, especially with all this dogmatic, one size fits all kind of advice that I've seen given over there.

I apped for 2 different Amexes back in December (one charge, one revolver) and was approved for both with a single pull. I cancelled both right away, but they still showed up on CR and boosted my AAoA. Cancelled my old TE and apped for another in January (I got a lower initial CL, but 3X CLI is coming up)

Been racking up 2% CB using my Fidelity Amex to load Serve and paying some of my other cards from Serve.
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

My Amex CLI request is still pending. I just hope they respond back to me soon.

It is amusing that the Venture would just now be the focus of the hive mind when it's been around a while and so heavily promoted. At least Capital One should be better equipped to handle a sudden surge in applications.

Well, that is one way to get your AAoA up. Were they cards you previously had?

If the charge card was new, it seems a waste of a signup bonus. If it was old, did you have to pay the annual fee?

Is that WF 365 Propel mostly for the signup bonus? Or you're okay with the so-so rewards and the annual fee in the future because of the nice limit?

The Venture does make the Arrival+ looks like not such a clear value. And if you ignore the DoubleCash's FTF, the DC is probably better. Still, bonuses can be very tempting.

Mainly the sign up bonus and cell phone protection (apparently it covers up to $600 in damages) and the fact I've tried that card at least another time before and wanted another crack at it. I have also never had a non Centurion Amex before and already had some kind of relationship with WF in the past and wanted to take advantage of that too. Their other cards don't look as interesting and I don't think I could have justified having the Propel World version as much quite honestly.

I was also not expecting to get that kind of limit with the card since it seems the average is around $2500 according to Credit Pulls so that's like the icing on the cake for this one.
