My favorite credit card is whichever one acting as my go-to card for purchases. For example, the lack of EMV means that when I am outside of the US, my Canadian credit card acts as my favorite. (I'd say Discover amongst the US cards, but they don't operate on China UnionPay in Hong Kong despite it being a bigger network compared to Diners Club...)

While in the US, it's whichever one gives me the best reward. Or if all things are equal, the one with the highest credit limit. If you want one that's overall favorite, it would be the one with the highest balance at the end of the month - because I spent the most on it.

Having said that, if there is a prescreened offer for a card that can convince me that it can be my favorite some of the time, I'm all ears. (Especially the non-FTF cards, if it means I don't have to do the cross-border transfer dance to pay off my Canadian card.) But I won't go out of my way to apply for a card cold. Prescreened or else not applying.
Current Credit Scores:
VantageScore 3.0 - 760 TU, 764 EX (11-19-16, Credit Karma)
FICO 8 - 747 EX (10-22-16, AmEx statement)
Discover - 750 TU (11-4-16, Discover statement)

Current Credit Cards:
RBC - $8000 CAD
BoA - $13500 USD
Capital One - $2750 USD
AmEx BCE - $4000 USD
Discover It - $8000 USD

Discover It has been getting lots of votes.

My eye is on Diners Club, though.

No favorite. They're all tools that serve different purposes.

Favories, because they are most beneficial to me, I get what you're saying:

BCP nets me between $60 and $75 a month cash back.
SPG saves me literally thousands of dollars per year on free hotel stays.
CSP because I transfer all my UR points to Southwest Rapid Rewards.
These would be the last three cards to go.
Amex Platinum
Amex BCP 21K
Amex SPG 5K
Barclaycard Arrival Plus WEMC 5K
Chase Sapphire Preferred 23.5K
Credit Union 10K
Discover IT 7.75K

My favorite card is my Discover due to great customer service and special online shopping deals.

If I had to only have one, though, it would be a different matter - probably Chase Freedom due to Visa's more widespread acceptance. I am not thrilled about this, though, as Chase has been relatively stingy limit-wise (for my history with them), allowed a fraudulent charge, and made the fraud resolution process a bit too time-consuming for me (though it was resolved properly).
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

Maybe they might give you a higher limit on the CSP if you ever decide that card might fit your spending patterns. Moving part of the CL onto your Freedom couldn't be any easier if that were to happen, especially if you contact Chase through a secured message to do it.
